Default DA 100 Throttle Arm

I know the DA 100 is pre-tapped for 2-56 but I really would like to use a 4-40 ball link. Can someone tell me what I would need to re-tap the throttle arm for a 4-40 bolt?

Thanks in advance,
Keith

That would be a drill bit it and a 4-40 tap...

Yep and you can get the drill size at the hardware store when you go to get the tap. I'm not sure what size it is. Get a 2-56 drill and tap set as well as long as you're there. They are both useful. By the way, 4-40 is totally unecessary for the throttle. 2-56 is more than adequate.

Agreed - 2-56 has been fine on my DA-100. Just don't forget the locktite.

BTW - if you go to the gardware store for a 4-40 tap, they usually come with a bit.

Speaking of taps - here's a handy tool to have...

sorry - sears didn't put a pic up, but it is basically a nice craftsman screwdriver with a bit holding handle (like the magnetic tip screwdrivers) where you can store taps that can be put in the chuck on the end of the screwdriver. Just add a 4-40 and 2-56 to the handle and it's complete! I use mine constantly - highly recommended.

I tapped mine for 4-40.

On a 35% I don't believe anything could/should be 2-56.

Took 20 seconds and now I have a full 4-40 throttle linkage setup with monster ball links..

Throttle is throttle, regardless of the plane size, a carburetor butterfly should not be hard in any way for a servo to push or pull. If it is you have serious problems. We are using 4-40 linkages on huge 3D size elevators with 300+ oz/in servos - I don't think a throttle arm is seeing the torque to justify a 4-40 size, but if it makes you feel better go for it.

Okay guys...you have convinced me to stay with 2-56.

Thanks for the information on tapping though...I am sure it will come in handy in the future.
