how long do you want to fly.... a good rule of thumb is.... 1 oz of fuel per min for each 50cc's.... so 100cc = 32oz tank /2 =16 mins +

I am running a 16 oz tank in my 50cc plane and land right at 16 mins with about 1/5 a tank left ( decent margin )

Mine is a DL-100, 1 1/4" aluminum standoffs with 1/4" mounting bolts, props is a JFX 27 X 10, and a 4" aluminum spinner.
The 1 1/4" stand offs gives exactly 1" from the front of the cowl to the back plate of the spinner.

OK guys,
I am doing my maiden Friday night after work, or Saturday morning.
All is complete.
I just need to know some basic control surface throws for low rates.
In inches please.
I don't have a degree gauge.
What are you guys running on low rates?

Hey, what are you doing for aileron servo wires inside the wing. Looks like you have the flex automotive conduit coming from the root rib, but where are you connecting the ailerons to the receiver? Are you plugging in each time on the power expander itself? Is that conduit in the wing glued down? I'm concerned about wire flop inside the wing.

wow you guys are moving along...

I really haven't made much progress as I am at the point now where I need parts = need money lol. I just ordered my servos 7955tg's on the tail and 7986mg's on the ailerons. got a good deal on them through a friend that owns an online hobby business ( mostly car stuff ). I'm in the Progress of mocking up the servo install into the horizontal stabs and setting up the cable runs for the pull-pull, if the cable look like they will line up either straight or crossed I will make the cuts in the side the drop a servo in the tray I made.

I have two zip tie mounts in the wing. I put one at the root and one as far as I could get in and still be able to get a zip tie on it. The loom is only up to the zip tie mounts.
The servos get pluged into the power expander each time. The expander only has three ports per channel, so I mixed to channels which gives me six expander ports.
Each servo is pluged into it's own port, so there is no voltage drop like you get when running two servos through a Y-harness.
So with the power expander, each servo on the entire plane is plugged into it's own port and is getting max voltage.

So, anyone with any throw measurments?

Hey, not sure what you paid for the 7955's but did you know Servo City is having another big Hitec servo sale at ths time? 5955's for $79 and free shipping on orders over $100. I'm going to be the Guinea pig for the servos that HobbyCity and TBM sell .. the Power HD 9150MG Digitals. Their 220 oz. in. @ .14 speed. TBM sells them for $49 and HC sells them for $34. TBM swears by them and claims they would not risk their reputation to servos that represent anything less than the best. I'm using them for the elevators and I have them doing dual duty on the rudder for 440 oz in. total.

well this plane is my venture into the 33% range and I plan on moving up to something in the 100 in range after this plane so I am buying once so that I can move everything over when the time comes and I already have the right Programmer for these servos. I only paid $93 each for the 7955's and $85 for the 7985's . I think I am going to go with the DA-85 also when the time comes to buy an engine. Like I said I am building this plane slowly so it will still be a while before it's in the air as I am flying a 50cc wildh are sukhoi su-26 atm and having a blast .

OK, the manual says for standard flight to have 20 degrees of deflection on elevator and ailerons.
I used a protactor to make a jig of 20 degrees.
That makes my elevator and ailerons move 3" up and 3" down.
Is that to much?

Help me out guys, doing my maiden on Saturday.

I should have laid my servos on their sides like you did, but I took the easy conventional route. I wound up with more servo out in the breeze than I anticipated, but its secure .. and its a lot better for removing the stabs than it was as designed.

Servo city website still shows the HS-5955TG for $114.99.
Where are you seeing them for $79.00?

aaxiss, Can you post a couple more pics of your elevator servo tray? I'd like to try it myself. Very nice idea!

I will get those Pictures for you tomorrow, already put everything away for the night. Basically what I did was to harden the balsa sheet (underside of top sheeting )roughed it up with 120 grit and epoxied the mount in place with a straight shot to the back side of the arm. for the mount itself I basically copied the throttle servo mount that came with the plane. band saw is helpful for this. pictures will help alot more, will post em tomorrow

I see the 5595's are back up to $114. Over on Flying Giants they were saying the 5595"s were back on sale for $79. This was Monday or Tuesday. Maybe they took them off sale to help jump start the 7955's which are on sale for $91. .. ????

2robinhood, unfortunately I am not that far along yet to help you but 3" for 20 deg on the ailerons sounds like way too much. I have 15 deg on my 50cc plane and the movement is no where near 3" . Make sure you measure with 0 at the trailing edge of the wing and 20 at the trailing edge of the control surface your deflecting.

Also 20 deg seems like a lot for normal. Again based off my wild hare Sukhoi 50cc but then again my sukhoi at full throws 50 deg up/down rolls @ close to or over 720 deg sec.... FAST

HERE IS WHAT I DID WITH MY WING SERVO WIRE. USED BLACK SPIRIL WRAP FOUND ON THE ELECTRICAL AREA AT HOME DEPOT THEN USED 1/4 HOLD CLIPS AND CA TO HOLD THE WIRES IN PLACE.
