Default Carden ARF Yak (Hangar 9)

I haven't seen a post on this one yet, but it sure looks nice. 89" ARF Yak 54, built using the Carden design. Looks beautiful, and will certainly be high-quality. I don't think I would ever see ARF and CARDEN in the same sentence!

I'm really trying not to be a heel here but I'd rather buy one of these:

http://www.3dhobbyshop.com/detail.aspx?ID=2153

3Dhobbyshop is also coming out with their Extra 300 SHP 87" this spring, I've watched several videos and so far looks great. I would imagine a 87" Yak 54 is on it's way. Ben ( the owner) has the best customer service I've found in this hobby.

I've been down the Hangar 9 road to many times, once I found and flew 3Dhobbyshop.com ARFs I was hooked.

God Bless,

Jay

Here's a video of the 87" Extra SHP electrified. I've seen video with 50cc gasser in it as well. Neat video[8D]

You're not a heel! I agree with you. I can't wait to get that 300SHP, it is #1 on my "to get" list. Scott Stoops is an excellent designer.

After further review, I saw a Carden/H9 thread already started by somebody else.

Thanks! I just wish more people had pointed me down different roads instead of the ones that I have followed, the web has made it much easier to actually see better designs. Scott Stoops is brilliant in his airfoil design and coupled with Ben, they don't stop the design process until it's perfect. My 47" SHP has no tuck or coupling in knife edge. I can't wait until my wife let's me get the 87" Extra and it will only come from 3DHS. I'll be doing gas on it just so I can put smoke on it[8D].

God Bless Ya'll,

Jay

Good job Jay, you were able to derail a thread on the very first reply. A new record?

I really wasn't trying to derail, it's a pretty plane and it caught my attention. I would hope that many will see this thread as an interest of a certain aircraft size and type and "steer", not "derail", people to a better product with better customer service Of which I haven't found from Hagar 9, I have no experince with Carden, but if you look at the price difference I'd try 3Dhobbyshop.com first

God Bless Ya'll,

Jay

Hey Jay what in the heck are you talkin about.

This thread is about H-9 / Carden not your plane.

Do me a favor go start your own thread and then I won't have to read it because it will start with 3dhobbyshop.

What the heck is a 3dhobbyshop?

Guess what, I don’t care.

Carry on

Carden / H-9 Yaks rock.

Thankie

Hanger 9 has one of the best service departments in this industry.

I bet if you call this guys place and asked for a replacement wing or canopy they wouldn’t have it.

The guy is an obvious owner of the company trying to get some free advertising.

Kinda sad.

Has anyone ever seen a Carden design that flew badly? I don't think so. Carden designs have consistently been proven contest and 3d winners for a long long time and I don't believe he plans on going backwards anytime soon. They always work, they work the way their supposed to, and hold a resale value better than anything out there other than a Comp Arf, and the Cardens actually do a little better than the Comp in that area.

Ha! I was just trying to show a plane that has killer performance, same size, and $150 less. Watch the video and you'll see what an awesome performer it is. My opinion, and just that, is" Why buy the Hangar9/Carden Yak when you can get a better deal somewhere else."
Of course you don't need to check the link out and watch the video and just keep on buying the same old stuff, really no need to evolve in this hobby.

God Bless Ya'll,

Jay

3Dhobbyshop.com is an up and coming ARF producer and they're really getting a lot of recognition for the airplanes with designer Scott Stoops. As you can see by this poll, they are top favorites. Their customer service is outstanding

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=821943

Also I'm not an owner, and I'm not an engineer. Ben carries all replacement parts for his planes.

First I call you out for derailing a thread, thinking you'd STFU. Now it's a full on train wreck. I'll be sure to shop at 3dclearinghouse.com now

His statement that he has never flown a Carden says to me he can't talk about anything else but price. We all know that price is not everything. How can anyone say better product without seeing or flying the Carden?. I know Carden products. I know H-9 products. I've flown both. I don't know 3-dhobbyshop so I can't compare. I do know this much. I would spend $150 more for a Carden plane before I'd buy a plane I don't know. Send me one and I'll fly it then I'll be able to compare both.
Now back to H-9 and Carden. Dennis

This is a good looking plane. Pretty expensive compared to others in this class though.

Do you usually compare a Ferrari to a Volkswagon when pricing a ride?

Not at all, more like Ferrari and Lamborghini. I certainly would prefer both but if given a choice I'd go for the best all around deal.
This Yak is a beautiful plane and I'd love to fly it if given the chance.
I hope to look it over in person at Toledo this year.
God Bless Ya,

Jay

I subscribed to this post earlier this evening and it had a bunch of other crap on it about different planes what happened?
I,m really looking forward to seeing this plane at Toledo and talking with the Carden/H9 reps about any other expected releases.
My thoughts on this plane are its looks to be built like a Carden kit with some lightening mods already done, it should be bullet proof and last longer than some of the extremely light models that only last for a season or two at best.

Dave

p.s. glad to see the post got cleaned up!

I am really happy to see a modern Carden design in the 50cc range that is scale. I have heard great things about how the Cuda flies but a scale aerobat has a much better look to it. Coming in ARF form and in the hands of Horizon's amazing customer service will make this an incredibly popular plane. I love my current 50cc plane, it's just good to see another winner on the market.

This thing is really really attractive. The DA50 on KS 1060 pipe would be my first choice with 8711s all around. Could anyone (perhaps MM) comment on the ability of it to carry this pipe? MTW canister might sound good but RPM gains nil? Nice scheme. Bet it flies like a jewel.

8711's would be a whole lot more servo than it needs and add quite a bit to the end cost.
