Here is a picture of my aileron and tristock. It still looks like I may have to sand deeper than I should into the ailerson.

That looks correct. I see you do have the 1/16" balsa capping over the aileron end and then the 3/4" tri stock. Sand to match the tri stock and no more. You will sand a little into the corner stock of the aileron but only on the root side if I recall. No issues.

I've got one of these also. If I remember correctly when I bought mine they said they were not going to make these kits any longer? They need a ARF of this bird. Very nice flying plane but they are rather fragile. Think if I built another one I'd consider a lite ply fuse. Tri stocking the stab around the outside perimeter is critical as mine also came loose. Too much vibration with a very narrow support structure for the stab. Jerry.

What do you guys think of mounting the fuel tank below the wing tube, centered on the CG of course? I really don't want to cut F5 since there is not a lot of stabalizing in the wing saddle area.

Thats what I did. You don't need a large tank when you are running a gas motor. Mine ended up nose heavy requiring me to move the batteries to the back also. I've got a DL50 with standard muffler. You might also want to shim the mounts with a washer to give you some right thrust as mine needed it after the test flights. Mine also needed 2% down elevator to rudder mixed in for a clean knife edge. Jerry.

Craig, you should bring your Hybrid to the Huckfest here in Hot Springs on June 24-27th. I'll have mine there, since it's here in town. See the other rc forum - huckfest - Hot Springs.

May consider the new OS GT55 for the extra .5 HP over the DA50. Anyone tried this setup yet ? I am on a 4000ft attitude and probably the DA/DL 50 would be on the weak side.

Will run a bme 58 and would like to use a canister or tuned pipe.
Is this going to work? I have the kit, but not started yet.
Thanks

RE: OMP Hybrid Edge 540 Build
some have needed nose weight with a da50.the bme58 is lighter still, and with a canister or pipe you are putting more weight behind the CG.if you can get it to balance with the 58 it would be great combo.do a search on this plane there are a lot of threads on it.
you got this kit at just the rite time,OMP said it maybe the last run of kits, due to the price of balsa.

Would you not just move the engine forward to balance, i hate to add weight. The header and can should add some weight to front, pipe would be back. If anyone has ideas on this, post please.
Thanks

You Should be fine with the the canister. When you build the plane install the rudder servo just aft of the wing tube tward the bottom of the fuse. I do not think you will have any issues with the ballance. If you are really concerned weigh your balsa that you are using in the rear of the plane and use the lighest sheets there.
