A123 Chargers
What chargers are out there that can charge the A123 batteries without ballance leads? I would like to have a charger that can charge 2 batteries at once with a fairly high output at least 4 amps per battery pack.

RE: A123 Chargers
The cell pro I have charges 4 amps. The servo plug for charging is starting to get very warm after charging as the days get hotter so unless you plan on getting some new way to make a charge jack stick with 4 amps or less.
Watch Duralite and Fromco to come out with proper chargers next I'd say.
As far as the balancing goes, my opinion is these bats will need balancing now and them. Note Duralite is building balance devices into their a123 bats now.

Check out the Cellpro 10 from FMA Direct. www.fmadirect.com It charges and balances at the same time and will charge two packs at once. You can get the specs at the website.

So you're still faced with disconnecting a battery if you have two hooked to your rx and want to charge them at the same time. I tried to get FMA to consider adding the functionality of doing two parallel packs with the common ground like our models use when they were finalizing the programming. I was told it would not be difficult to do but that there might not be room in the memory to accomodate that feature as well as all the others.
I'd tried to indicate that this would be a great thing for us modelers, but evidently there's not been enough demand or something as the last I heard, the two battery simulataneous charging required that the packs be done in series????

I have 2 of the TP1010C chargers and have no problem charging 10s packs at 10A. I also have one of the 610C's and it also has no problem charging up to a 6s pack. They are both TP chargers.

I have a garden tractor battery which I keep charged to run the TP1010C at the field, fully charged I can only get a constant 4-5 amps out of it. I can't imagine it supporting multiple charges at that same rate.
What is a good source for a AC to DC power supply that is reasonably priced? Say 20 amp capable.

I got mine at my lhs. It is a 10A. I also have a few 8a PS's as well. Normally I only charge under 5a. I do have a few packs that require more but seldom use them.

These make excelent 12v sources. Provides a couple hundred amps, has a cigarete type 12v plug in and recharges it'self. Just plug it in at home and use it as a power supply. Going on 2 years with mine and still good...>

I use the Bantam 902 which will charge two packs through the one output if ganged with the ballancers, it will chage 10S at 5.9amps because its 250watt capable, its maximum output is 9.9Amps but only up to 27volts, you pays your money and takes your choice.

I charge mine through the dean plug. I do not have the know how yet for soldering in balance leads. I will get to reading that one day. I use VPX cells and have not had any issues with it so far.

It basically meets all your requirements except it only charges at 2.5 amps each.

RE: A123 Chargers
It has 1 output. You purchase a connector cable for your application. I used their connector and soldered a JR HD 2' servo extension onto it. The servo extension uses all 3 wires to balance charge the pack (2 cell A123). The charger outlet itself has 5 pins on it so it will balance charge a 4 cell pack.
