RE: Build Thread: New QQ-Yak 54 101
George,
If you were to spend the money and the time to modify the tunnel, I would suggest the RE3 pipe at 14" header and you'll get the best of the pipes in this world but if I were you, considering the money and all that stuff, I would just buy the extension and try the current set up on longer header length. It should make a difference and you won't loose much time or money to get the results and see if you can live it before spending $300. My experience shows that RE3 from MTW has superior mid range to Greve, hands down!
Hope this helps,
Reza

REZA....OK a question... i am thinking of replacing entire header / exhaust combo on my da85...(..as I cut an inch off the header)....does the re3 go in easliy...what about the new greeves ..any feedback on it??...as I mentioned I do have a da 2 1/2 extension however ..being that I cut an inch off the header ...will it make much of a diff? If I an going to spend the time Id like to get it right! Whats your opinion?? right now midrange is terrible with poor response...

Hi JC,
You can buy them from Desert Aircraft. 14" header is what you need with 10mm gap.
Thank you,
Reza

The manual is so well done and the ARF of such good quality I have no questions on the build. But how does she fly? What mixes have you implemented?

Hi Les,
Thanks for the kind comments!
What radio do you have? I have the program in my 12X and I can send you the file but if you don't have the same radio, mixes are very small! Depending on your CG you can get 0-4% on pitch and same amount roughly on adverse aileron for knife edge! About 1-2% for downline if you are an IMAC guy! Shouldn't need anything more!
Cheers and happy 4th,
Reza

I have the QQ 73inch WS YAK in the box and will soon begin assembly. I know there are many advantages offered by the computer radios and they can be "dialed-in" for certain maneuvers. I think this is what you're talking about such as "adverse aileron for knife edge." Where can I learn about how to do this for aerobatics? I have a new 12FG, but don't know where to begin on the programming.

JC

HI JC,
See if you can find some Futaba programming forums here or else where! I have no experience with Futaba radios. Yes, you need to find out how to use it to set up your plane.
Thank you,
Reza

JC,
Google "peter goldsmith tuning guide" and you should find a guide written by a TOC pilot that explains it all.
Rezagh,
I've got the Fut 9CAP. Thanks for the thought though.

Don't be greedy with epoxy and go with it over all plane.
Coverings - are not ready to fly!
Go over all covering with heat gun or covering iron even if it locks perfect!

I am planning on using Futaba 9156 servos for the elevators. These provide 344 oz in on 6V. Any thoughts on whether or not these will provide enough torque?

Does anybody know what to do with the tailwheel assy that come with a rod with eyelet attached to the pivoting tailwheel, a 2.5 inch spring and wood screw? The manual is silent on this.

I am wanting to get this plane from Chief Aircraft and was wondering if the Spektrum DX 7 radio would work with this plane? Any thoughts?

RE: Build Thread: New QQ-Yak 54 101
I absolutly love my 86. I can only imagine how well this flies. Is this one still in production? For that matter are any of the QQ planes still in production? Does anyone knowbof a plane out there that has a similar cowl and canopy to fit an 86?
Thanks in advance.
Matt
