Default Edge, 50cc

I'm thinking about a new Edge. I found these guys, (East RC) I've never heard of them before, but their Edge...and for that matter...their Yak, looks pretty darn good.
Anybody heard of them or have any of their planes? Customer service?
Here's a link.
Thanks
Barry

The 30% Extra and Edge 540 look like copies (same thing?) of the Performance Aircraft (formerly BME) planes.

Maybe old stock? Maybe the factory in China stole the designs and started making them and selling them to another US distributor? Thats not a new practice.

One difference I see...at least in the Edge, is the East RC Edge has a douple canopy. The BME, PAU has a single canopy. I have a good friend that has the PAU Extra...it's a good airplane and he flys it well.
Anybody know about the company East RC? Are the good to deal with? Do there airplanes come out at advertised weight. Ya know, I think that's the biggest lie in this hobby...the advertised weight of an aircraft. That is very critical to me because of my high elevation. It makes such a difference when the plane weighs a pound more than stated. Most manufacturers seem to say they are on the light side.
Anyways, I'm somewhat interested in a new Edge and this one looks pretty good, but I don't want to be a "test mule" for their products.
Thanks
Barry

I'm flying at 2 different fields. The club field is 5973' elevation and the secret spot is 6219' elevation.

A pound is HUGE!! Especially on a plane this size. I get frustrated by advertised weights too. I took 3/4lb out of an 80" Extra 300S and it was a whole new plane. That was about 4yrs ago. When I realized how much difference it made at these altitudes, I started REALLY paying attention to weight.

I have an original BME Edge 540 still NIB. It's the old first generation Edge from about 3yrs ago. I've sold it once and bought it back from that same guy 6 months later. Still NIB. I guess it was meant for me.

If it was me, I'd call them up and talk to them. See how they respond to you on the phone. See if they even ANSWER the phone. See how they react to questions about the plane or how it builds. Ask them how the wings attach. Do they run a bolt through the wing tube? Or do they use a bolt from inside the fuse and into the root rib? The type of conversation you have with them before you spend your hard earned money would be the determining factor for me.

I'll bet ya dollars to donuts those are the same planes as PAU/BME. If they arethen I'd snatch one up if you like the price and the people.

I'm still flying one of the Wild Hare 28% Edges. Version II. Everywhere I take it I let people fly it. With a Taurus 3.2, an NX prop, and at 16-1/2 pounds, there has not been one person that hasn't loved flying it. It does it all as well as the person flying can tell it what to do. From newbies to old timers the response has been the same. They all wished they had one, and some have later bought one. At $429.00 for a 50cc plane it's still one of the best plane deals on the planet.

There was a story about the factory in China, selling BME designs to other distributors (Rich models comes to mind).

It is very possible that this is what you are looking at, or even someone selling rejects and second stock. If you call and they can hardly speak English, I'd stay away.

The PAU Edge II or III is a great flying design and their support level is hard to match. Since you have been doing 50cc class for a long while, consider going bold and getting yourself a larger plane. I hear the larger PAU Edge is absolutely fantastic on a DA-85...

I just assembled and had a few flights on a BME Edge (1st gen) and its really nice to fly, especially if you are looking for a high end performer.if you are a bank and yank type of guy and cant tell the difference between middle of the road and high performance, buy a generic cheaper plane. If you are serious about performance, get a Wildhare or BME Edge, there is a big difference
