RE: Pilot-RC Yak
That plane is nice!!! Sign me up!! I have to get one of them for the next season! I just hope I can get it at the intro price, I like that it comes with the spinner that saves about 60 to 70 more bucks!!!... They shut my thread I started about these planes down because a few guys got into it (no names)... By the way How did you get one From TBM? do they have them in stock, I checked the site and can't find them...
And I see it comes Pre Decaled!! What engine are you going to mount?

TBM will carry the Pilot-RC line.
I will install my trusty DA 100 on this one. There is another project on the bench that should be clearing today, then the build thread begins!

Starting the stabs
Removing covering,,
Ball links already made up for ya! One end is reverse threaded for easy adjustment.
Composite servo arms included
I used Max servo arms, had to change some of the attachment hardware to 4-40

RE: Pilot-RC Yak
comming along pretty good, with all the stuff they have done you'll save a lot of hours on this bird! I wish it came with a Pilot... then it would be a very complete ARF. But I'd rather have the spinner.

I like the hatch in the aft end for the tailwheel stuff. Makes for easy modifications or repairs!
Can't say the same about the rudder hinges but if you have a need to remove a rudder for transport they have their advantages.
Tailwheel steering is limited to rudder deflections so no more over castering if desired. Makes for a super simple steering linkage installation though. Highs and lows to each side of the assembly methods I suppose.
Looks like the plane is nearly idiot proof and a fast assembly.

Very nice, just one suggestion, on the tail wheel attachment screws. Use bonded washers to make sure they never backout.

I actually used a little blue Locktite, I use bonded washers on removable stuff like stabs, cowls and canopys. Thanks for the suggestion, they are allways welcome.

The Locktite will hold forever and is lighter than the bonded washers. Too much Locktite and the screws may hold a lot longer than you wanted them to. Removing them could end up requiring some heat.
I moved away from using bonded washers on cnopies some time ago. Nylon allen head cap screws work even better without needing a washer at all. The usual 4-40 or 6-32 blind nuts can be removed with the hole they were in getting tapped to 8-32 or 10-32.

RE: Pilot-RC Yak
There's a free program called Picassa that you download off the Google home page. It sizes pictures and makes it super easy to attach with your posts here. An easy size to work with is 800. It asks the size with each export. The down load is automatic and Picassa finds your picture files and arranges your sets for quick attaching.
I'm following this closely because of my liking the SD type line of planes. Good stuff.

Got Picassa with my new Vista PC at work. [:'(] Picassa and Vista both...... [:'(]
Nice plane and the prefabrication looks nice. Wish I had the $$ for a toy like that.

RE: Pilot-RC Yak
installing rudder servos
Glued and screwed,, supplied rudder servo arm being attached to the large round HiTec arms
Installed and linked together, I have used two 7955's on two 40% aircraft, there will be enough 'muscle'!!
Carbon Fiber goodness!
I used TBM heavy duty servo leads for the elevators and ailerons. Please no y's for power hungry servos!
If you happen to poke a hole in something,,,,, some covering material is provided.

RCpilot,
Why don't you do like the moderator that does reviews for Extreme Flight and do some for Pilot yourself??
Nice servo arms in this one btw.

I think Taildragger726 is doing a pretty good job with this review. Depending on how he works out the text descriptions about the kit components, methods of assembly, and flight performance this thread could end up another multi hundred page thread about Pilot products like the ones that have happened with E.F. Another free manufacturer support forum if you will.
As more people obtain a Pilot Yak they should just add to this thread instead of starting a new one.
