Are you referring to the Patty Wagstaff 78" plane?

My son flew his today; it's a great performer with the OS 160FX on it. I cannot speak from experience of having tried a gas engine in it, but my own opinion is that at this size you will be adding weight and losing power by using a gas engine. Of course if you are looking to just fly around real easy and don't need good vertical power, then the gas engine might be fine. I think however that even with the 160FX in it, the plane has a higher wing loading which makes landings hot. The gasser would have an even higher wing loading. That just my 2 cents worth. Maybe someone who has the plane with a gas engine in it can speak up. Jon

I have to agree.. the 74" version is at that size where it becomes too heavy quickly and doesnt fly half as well as it does on glow.

I seen one fly with a DL50
what a horrible combo
cheap 26cc wont have the power
its best suited for nitro

I had that plane with an OS 1.60 and wanted to get a gas engine for it because the engine died on every other flight (at least). I looked at many different engine options, and the only engine that came close to the same weight was the SPE 40 (now 43cc). This may or may not work. I don't have any experience with the engine. Here is a link: http://www.cermark.com/products/SPE%...ne-Engine.html

Anyway the engine weight 53 oz including muffler and ignition, while the OS 1.60 was about 46-48 oz including muffler, mount, and pump IIRC. The gas engine would need an ignition battery as well (4 oz), but you could get away with a much smaller fuel tank, maybe 8-10 oz. I thought my takeoff weight would be about the same given the smaller fuel tank and going to a wood prop instead of the heavy APC 18x6w that was on there.

Not sure if this helps, but I thought I would give the info anyway. I ended up selling the plane and replacing it with a true 50cc plane and engine.

Ok boys, thank a lot, i am thinking in the GP Patty extra. Now i have the CRRC 26cc turn a 16x8 Menz al 8700 rpm, i am flying a TNT 1.86m wingspan Extra 300 and run fine on 3D. As i have the nice GP YAK 54 with DL50 and want another model i think in smaller one like the Extra 160 but i don´t like glow engines so i will go bigger, will buy another DL 50 + GP Patty Extra 300.
Good Flights!

Hi Platero,

I was under the impression you already had a plane. If you want an Extra and want to stick with Great planes I would recommend the new Performance Series Extra 330S. It should cost about the same as the Patty Wagstaff, has a bit more wing area, and is several pounds lighter. It has a wing area in about the middle of the range compared to 50cc planes, and the fuse is bigger than most 50cc planes so it will actually look larger than its 79" wingspan would suggest. This plane on any 50cc engine will be in a manageable weight range and should be a good flier, especially for the price (around US$400).

Dear BTERRY yes I allready have several planes: 1/3 extra 100cc 3W, 1/4 YAK DL50, 22% Extra 26cc CRRpro, 1/4 Sukhoi Zenoa 45cc, 1/4 Pik 15 Zenoa 45 and more, but because some health poroblems I can´t fly my models due to y think in to buy another to spend my time in the bench. I will see the model you tell me, a dealer here has so i can pourchase and fly in the future.
Thanks a lot, best regards.
