what Fuel Tank Stopper/Plug ??

ok we burn glow fuel, but I'm wondering if I used the wrong Fuel Tank Stopper, the Manual says the Stopper is used for both Gas and Glow and it shows a Black Stopper, but it didn't come with a Black Stopper, it came with a Red Stopper ??? and in another photo it show the Tank has a Red Stopper,,

what is the Red Stopper for, Glow or Gas ???

thanks again

The red stopper is for Gas (Petrol in the UK) you will also need different fuel tubing as the glow tubing will just dissolve so Tygon fuel tubing is needed also make sure you use some spring clamps.[sm=thumbs_up.gif]

OK, Red for Gas, that's what I thought, thanks !!

so because we will burn glow I have to change the Stopper to black..

I just got some of the new Power HD servos from troy Built for my edge, The high voltage one's with 213 oz torq. after pluging it in to my rec. and trying it out I noticed it doesn't have as much travel as my JR's.
1/8 of an inch less travel with the same arm on it. anybody experience this, is it because one is digital and the other is not.

I can tell you that power HD servo's are chinese, and available at hobbycity.com for half the price of Troybuilt. Dont know about power HD quality.

I am also using HD Power servos. I got mine from Wild Hare and they were the same price as Hobby City. I did a bunch of reading on them and a lot of people are using them with good results. Especially work well when running unregulated A123 at 6.6 volts. That is the setup I am going to run.

I finally got my ailerons hinged. All turned out well after plugging and redrilling a bunch of hinge holes. Also made extensions on the fuse sides so I could properly attach the cowl. I know it wouldn't last long with the original setup.

I had to cut out the middle of the firewall to accomodate the rear carb but it looks like it will work well. I'm really not that far from getting it in the air.

I also put some new tabs on for the cowl and pinned the engine mount with some carbon rod. Also put triangle stock on all inside angles of the engine box. Still need to solder some copper pipe on my Pitts muffler. After an initial ck of the CG with stuff just set in place it looked liked it was going to be a little nose heavy, so I mounted a single servo in the tail for the rudder.image][/img]

bubba 9999,

I am in the process of mounting my RCGF 45. Looks like I need to be about 40 mm off the firewall. I need to do a bunch of hacking on the cowl. Will save that for tomorrow. What method do you guys use to fine your engine mounting position?

I used the supplied template from RCGF and aligned to the center marks on the engine box. The standoffs I used are 1-5/8 long including the fender washers. My spiner is about 3/32 past the cowl when mounted and pretty much dead on centered.

Thanks bubba,

Did your firewall come with lines on it? The manual says it does, but mine has no lines. I was curious if the tiny amount of right thrust built into the firewall made it necessary to shift the engine a bit left of center. Appears it doesn't. Your 1-5/8 comes out to about 41mm so we are very close on that. Thanks again.

measuring the width of the front of the engine box ,(131.76mm) my vertical line was offset 5.5mm from center to the right as I'm standing in front of the plane facing the tail .

The thrust line is shifted to the left to account for the right thrust, and keep your crankshaft/spinner centered.

Jimeni what size oz fuel tank are you using? Only I have 24oz Du-bro but the only problem with it is that they have that bulge in the front....[&o] making it awkward to fit.

I used the supplied fuel tank. Works great. Just dont use the stopper that comes with it, it is junk.

Bubba 9999,

Did you rotate your carb on your RCGF engine? This will allow a better position for the throttle servo connection. Right now, the throttle arm is on the top left. I assume you can rotate it without problems. I have the engine mounted and am getting things hooked up.

Yes I did rotate my carb, high and low needles on left side of plane, Arm on right. You will also want to put a larger arm on the throttle of this engine, the one supplied with the carb is way to small to get any kind of linear response.

bubba 9999,

Thanks. Another question. No way the stock muffler will fit w/o hacking the heck out of the engine mounting box. The stock muffler is huge. Which muffler are you using? Will the ignition unit run on 6.6v? The manual says it needs a regulator for anything over 6v.

I'm using the Jtec pitts muffler, still had to cut the cowl a bit but not as bad as with the stock muffler. I have not been using a regulator, and I'm using A123's but from recent comments in the RCGF thread I think I'm going to start to.

Well my one is slowly coming along, Mounted the engine today a Crrc Pro 45cc the new version. i must say it does look good. I just have the receiver to put in and finish off the plumbing and then put the ignition unit in but that will have to wait until I have time again....

Can you believe I still can not get hold of these in the UK despite efforts with the UK and US distributors ! Been trying off and on for about 2 years after having sold a couple of the previous schemes (blue / white).

If this one is anything like the last one they fly real well and are good value.

[If anyone has any bright ideas on how I can access this product do let me know !]

cheers
