Default Knox Hobby Biiig Bipe

Even though the wind was blowing over 20 MPH I Went to the Kerrville, TX, (Kerrville RC Flyers) field last Sunday just to see what was going on. I found a bunch of guys clustered around a big 94.5" bipe that Herb Gohmert, a fellow club member was readying for its maiden flight. So I asked him about it and found out it had a GR Pro 150cc gasser and Futaba 2.4 GHz radio. Can't remember the prop. So after a few taxi and range tests Herb pointed it into the wind, opened the throttle and that thing jumped off the ground like one of my 3D electrics! The maiden went beautifully with the model exhibiting no bad habits; stalls were straight ahead with no falling off. Herb hovered it at altitude just to check it out.

I didn't get any pics at the field but got a few later at the Mel Clark's house. Turns out that Mel's son, Gary Clark (830-510-4026), has become the Texas distributor for Knox Hobby, the US distributor of this airplane line and GR Pro engines. Gary will have engines and planes on display at the Kingsbury, TX, IMAC contest this weekend April, 24- 26 at introductory prices. Herb will be flying his Yellow "Bulldog" bipe in the contest.

No monetary connection for me, just a little blurb to help out some friends. Pics below (I hope).

That's for sure. A DL 55 wouldn't fly this 94.5" WS bipe. It's for a minimum of 100cc.

Actually they sell a bipe of similar dimensions 94" 100cc (don't know anything about its quality, but it sure looks the same) for $495.00 plus shipping. I got a quote for $1,333.00 from them for the 95" 100cc Pitts and a DLE-111 engine delivered. broke down to $495.00 for the plane, $492 for the engine and $346 for shipping and PayPal fee. To bad I got the quote after i already had the plane and engine from somewhere else.

I just bought the same plane for $995.00 shipped so I would imagine it comes pretty close to the same with shipping. I'd rather buy "local", but had I bought both engine and plane from them I could have saved about $300.00 bucks

Dunno about the one you bought but the ones I showed will be at the Old Kingsbury Aerodrome this weekend. I'm going down this morning to see some contest flying and visit the Pioneer Flight Museum on the site.

Y'all come!

Yes they do. There are two companys that I know of that are making this size Pitts. DH Models (being sold by blazingwings) and CH Models (Being sold by Knox Hobbies) On the F .L .Y .I .N .G G .I .A .N .T .S web site there is a alot of information about this plane. One of the people from Knox Hobbies said he was going to test his without the flying wires. I hope it does not need them, they will be "fun" to put together each time I fly it.
