Default 50cc Turbine Toucan

Here's my latest project. It uses a DL50 and has 2 flights on it, so far.

Hey Guys;

It's a Cyclone Pitts Python with different cowl. This is basically what they did with the full-size TT as I found it on Kimball's completed aircraft page. I also didn't go completely scale with the covering as Ididn't want to completely strip it just to get rid of the black tips and fuse bottom.

The plane, engine and canister were $840, delivered from China (7 days).

Super nice looking cowl. I assume you made it. Any details on the process?

By any chance did you use the wood for a plug for glass cowls?  That is awesome work to really change the look of the aircraft with out a total rebuild.

Thanks Guys;

The cowl was made by laminating 1/2" balsa profiles to the existing cowl's base and then shaping to what you see now. I've used this process to make rounded fuselages before and had good luck.

Sorry, I didn't make a fiberglass plug but I CAN supply a 3D CAD model of the cowl to anyone who wants to make a plug.

You oughta make some fiberglass cowls using yours as a plug. Easy money.

hey anybody else had bad luck with Cyclone Toy and Hobby? I have received several products from them and in both orders I had MAJOR problems. First, a damaged airplane and then sent the WRONG products. Here's the Kicker: They openly admitted to the mistakes made but said they would do NOTHING about it. Tough luck, try to sell the items is what they told me. Now I am filing complaints with Paypal while crossing my fingers. anyone else? here's the URL: http://www.cyclonetoy.com/
