Well,
I got a real good deal on a hard wood door from the local hardware store,,, just $10.00,,, to that is what my table is for now. It's nice and flat. The first step is to make the fuse longerons by scarf joining tow pieces of birch 3/8" square stock. Plans are taped down and covered with wax paper!!

Man Steve....that looks like a great project. Ya know I really love the Velox. My little one was great....well until Ron got it. It flew outstanding and was a neat plane. This will be 45% neater just because of the size.
What colors?
Can't wait to see it.
Thanks

Hey Barry,
I'm hoping it will fly true!! I'm planning on going with almost the same colors as my previous build. Kind of a Leseburg scheme. I may use white instead of the yellow though. I'm realy thinking of what to do for exhaust though. Pipes or cans? That is the question. This will be an IMAC plane so I may just use cans so I can max out my sound score. Every little bit helps. I would like to try a pipe on that 88" Yak though![8D]

Well, I have some time to resize some photos so here's some progress. Once the formers are all glued to the top stringers, the side and bottom stringers are added. then the fuse supports,,wing tube support, side support, tail support " wich I didn't have so I made a couple from the plans.

Picture one above shows the fuse side support in place. You also have to glue on an anti-rotation plate. Then the landing gear rails and main plate is glued in place. I also glued in the fuselage cross bracing supports in place. I did not glue in the AT-1's yet. They were a little undersized so I waited until the side sheeting was on.

Some how I've lost some photos in the transfer from the camera, but I have most of the fuse complete without the foam pieces. I'm getting ready to sheet some of the foam pieces now. The motor box support stringer, landing gear supports, and box tri-stocks are in place.

Was able to get a little more work on the plane done this last week. I sheeted the belley pan and got it installed. It was quite a chore due to the tight radius on the belley pan. The fit was also not so great. But after some finnessing and sanding, it turned out ok. I also made up a wire tube and mounts for the elevator servo wires to run through. I sanded the foam smooth before sheeting. I used Pro Bond wood glue to edge glue the sheets after truing them.

Hi Steve,
Looks like your build is going well. I'm one of the new owners of Aerotech and just saw this thread. You kit was obviously produced before we purchased the company but let me know if there is any thing you need assistance with. My phone number can be found on our website.
Best of luck with your build!

Cool,
Thanks Kevin. I'm looking forward to your new line of planes. I'm into the 35%ers and I know you guys are focusing on the big birds right now. This is an older kit, but it should fly great from what I've heard on the Velox. It will be an IMAC plane. I've slowed on the build due to the Holidays, but will resume next month. [sm=thumbup.gif]
