Default Flew my Pilot Yak today-SWEEEEET!!!

I finally got the chance to fly my new Pilot RC Yak 50cc today and I can't believe how this plane flies.I have been flying RC for 30 years and had at least 50 airplanes, but this one flies better than anything I've ever had my hands on.I only got to fly two tanks out before the sun went down, but that was enough for me to fall in love.It flies so light and rolls like nothing I've ever had.I need to stop going on about it but I'm just so impressed. Thanks

Just like Frieshoo, I'm using the DLE111 that came with the combo. (Very Happy with it.)

Ed

FlyerDave,

Guys I have been looking at the 30% Pilot RC Yak. I have a DL 50 that has great power. Any comments on the preassmebly that they do, is it good and is the construction good. I have the DL 50 in a GP 330s 27% and it needs a bigger plane. Would the 30% fly as good as the 35%?

Regarding pre-assembly, my arf was rock solid out of the box. The only thing I did was take the preassembled fuel tank apart and looked it over. The stopper screw was loose, and would have likely caused a problem, if not checked.

I used 30 minute epoxy to glue in the control horns. I used all the hardware.

I going to get the 30% after Xmas. I have a DL50 also.

My flying buddy has the 30% with a DL55... nice really nice... He got one of the Chief Aircraft custom schemes, and it looks great.

Fries,

Thanks!

I agree with you that the prebuilt work and hardware that came with the PilotRC bird was topnotch!

Since you have owned both, how do you compare the SD birds with PilotRC???

Ed

I was a little concerned about the thickness of the Pilot RC ply in the fuse... however, it's held up great. I had to re-glue some of the strings because of the way I load my Yak into and out of the trailer.

The Pilot RC yak is lighter by almost a pound. My SD Yak has CF wing tubes, and stab tubes, but my gear is aluminum. That's some of the weight difference.

I'm a flyer, and really really hate to assemble/build. That's is a big reason I choice Pilot RC.... most of the hard work is done out of the box...

Sorry about not posting any pics yet,I've been up to my neck in the business,(I'm just thankful that my business is doing well).I will try to get some on tonight. As for the quality and flying characteristics of the 30% yak,I couldn't be more impressed,I mean, this is just great craftsmanship and the way it flies is much better than I had expected.I have been told that the 35% flies even better, but that would require a little more cash flow than I have right now.I'll keep that as my goal.BTW,who has the best graphics for the 30% pilot Yak?She just looks a little naked and some good graphics would make alot of difference.

Dave,

That's the color scheme I like. I hope to get one after Christmas.

Give these guys a call. You can send them a pic of the yak, and they will put together a nice graphics for you.
