Pick one that you think looks the best and get it. Choose only from the top 4. Everyone has an opinion. Any of those top 4 choices are good.

Why not add the Peak model? It's the one I've been considering. Cheaper than both the options you have. Just saying.

I'm 90% sure I'm gonna order a Peak version3 of the Yak 54 today.

Weight is not the biggest thing with plane performance.  Seriously, my EF Edge is the best flying plane I've ever touched...and I can't think of a single problem with it.

Well now you do, besides you saw my link my other suggestion request thread :P.

Iplaced my order for the Orange Version 3 Yak like it was recommended.
W/ the engine, muffler, ignition, 6 servos, 1 fromeco battery I got roughly 14.3lbs. That leaves me with roughly 1.7 pounds for ignition batter, rx, cables. I'd say under 16lb should be very do-able That coupled with DLE-55... .... Well, Ican hardly freaking wait. Plus price was the biggest thing that attracted me. Most people are not fond of the covering on it but it should last me just fine and I can recover later on down the road to my liking.

Heard lots of good things about the 9150MG servos, http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...idProduct=6334 so I opted to give them a shot.

Do you think a DLE-55 will hover it at 4,000ft. elevation even if it comes out at 18lbs? If you think it will, I'll put it back on the poll, because I do like it a little better than the others.

I've seen a DA-50 with a wrap-around pitts (less power than a 55 on a stock muffler) hover an 18lb plane at 3600ft pretty well.  The EF planes don't come out  at 18lbs anyway.  If they do, you've added excessive equipment that needs to get gone.

My DLE is on my EF Edge 88" and I couldn't be happier.  I seriously don't know if I'd want any more power.  For blasting out of hovers, every ounce you can get is nice....but the EF planes fly so well at everything else that you won't need to bail like that.  They just have great habits doing everything.  They're really well-mannered.

You'll like your Peak Yak! I fly a PeakModel Edge 540T V2 w/ DLE-55. The thing weight 15.75lbs AUW and has a massive 88.5"ws, 84" long, 1485 squares (33% territory) and flies like a dream. It'll hover at 1/3rd throttle and vertical is spaceship like! lol. You'll be pleased with your Peak plane. Crash n' burn has the same Edge as me from Peak and also the Extreme Flight Yak 54 88". He prefers the Peak models plane and says it flies better!!! If that doesn't sell ya I dunno what will. He said for all up quality and included hardware, go with the Extreme Flight however.

I have the EF Yak with the DLE 55, added smoke, 2 a123 2300 batteries, two switches, so weight was not a big concern and she pulls out of hover just fine. I was worried about the weight as well but the very first pull out laid my concerns to rest. EF Yak is a beauty and the size compared to other 30% planes is a plus in my book. Don't get all bent on weight and pick the color you want. It will fly great.

Agreed, go with the DLE.  Skip the wraparound.  Go either stock or canisters.  Also, I'd run either 2x1100mAh A123 packs or 1x2300mAh A123 pack.  You might want to consider a Zeus or an IBEF, or something along the lines of an 800mAh NiMH pack on ignition.  Skip the choke servo.  One servo per aileron, one per elevator, one on the rudder.  You might want to consider a water bottle tank.  Everything else should be straightforward.

go with DLE, its a lot more power than DA, and it will work really good with a 22x8 Xoar, some people like 23A Vess. Cheaper engine, amazing power and no dead sticks.

OK, I'll get the DLE.

victorzamora, what is a water bottle tank, a tank made out of a water bottle?

Are there any servos (preferably made my hitec) that would work that don't cost over $100 a piece?

Yup, a tank just made out of a water bottle.  Do a search on RCU or that other site (the one of the giants that fly) and you'll get a ton of info.  Really, it's only a couple ounces lighter (TOPS)...but if you're worried about weight, that's how to do it.

Servos-wise, PowerHD servos from TBM is what I'd recommend.  I have 4xDS120's on ailerons and elevators and a Hitec 7955TG on the rudder.  I also have a standard S3003 on throttle.

If you order your DLE from TBM, you can get a free part with it...but you might be better off getting it from either ValleyView or Tower.  Also, get your prop from ValleyView.  Start with a Xoar 22x8 Beechwood.  Get them to drill it out for you.  Really helps out!!

Default RE: Which 50cc Yak 54 should I get?

thanks everyone for the help!

victorzamora, I'm guessing you figured out this is my first gasser, I was gonna get a 30cc first but I decided to get a 50cc instead. Thanks for the info about the water bottle tank and predrilled prop. Also, about how much flight time can you get with the water bottle tank? BTW, I got the hint about the name of "that other site".
