RE: PeakModel Sbach 300 30cc Build thread
its nice airplane ... i am who afraid a lighter airplane...for my airplane i will use 180 oz - 210 oz of torque servos so ..to have them .. if i want to jumb in the 50cc class
i am using assan receiver... and i never had any problems... but i am afraid to use in that aplication ... are you using power box ...?? because as i know large digital servos ( 58-63 grm) takes a lot of amp can i make it with a 8-15 amp ubec with dual lipo ?? or the rx is going to melt down ???
thanks

a power box will be need it in a 40% airplane....for a 25-35% you can use a single li-ion with regulator or an A123 pack, that setup will make the power right.

RE: PeakModel Sbach 300 30cc Build thread
QuestionHow would you recommend to retain a cannister muffler? I am putting it in a Peak Sbach with a DLE 30. I enlarged the wood bracket 1mm as recommended by Peak to get the cannister thru.
Do I line the wood bracket with gas line so the muffler does not rub on the wood?
Do I need a seperate retainer? If I only use the existing wood bracket, the muffler will have room to move around and vibrate. I would think I might need something(????) to apply a little tension to the muffler.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks
Dale

There are some pictures in this post showing a canister mounted with stand offs. The header used has a 25mm drop for the MLD35 engine. The factory installed wood mount was removed.

Here is my cannister install with a DL30 on a Peak SBach 300
The yellow tubing around the canister mounts is siicon, not tygon.

Yes, Just yellow silicon fuel tubing. Worked great.
Colour doesn't matter, I just happened to have pieces of yellow laying around
Oh almost forgot.....I didn't have to sand the cannister mount holes bigger with this cannister.
It is the ZGR cannister and went in tight without modification.

RE: PeakModel Sbach 300 30cc Build thread
Being that this plane is a large 30cc size,to those who built one: Do you think it would work with a light-weight 50cc engine? I hate to have to add nose-weight,but with-out seeing one is there enough prop clearance and room in the cowl? I could move the rudder servo to the rear of the fuse to balance it.At almost 13lbs that is heavy for a 30cc engine. My 30% Pilot YAK weighs under 15lbs RTF with a strong 53cc engine.I also would like to know the truth about the quality of the plane, you can P.M. me if you don't want it published.I don't want to buy the wrong plane, but it looks good on paper,Brian

RE: PeakModel Sbach 300 30cc Build thread
WELL look /..the best size in gas airplanes is the 50cc and the cost from 30cc to 50cc is small (for airplane and the engine )
now...the peakmodel or redwing or sdshooby or maybe goldwing sbach ..from pictures as i have see ( its the same airplane....from the same manufacture..) i have the peakmodel sbach 342...
now ...what is the most important is that they have build an airplane that has the building futures of a 50cc in qualitty ...but in smaller dimension means more easy to put in a car
have good fun ...and smaller space for your home
but because this model is very well build and is scale!!! not like others ( see slipstream and notice how is the tail it doesnt have the curve in the tail ) it is a little tail heavy ....
solution ... instead of a DLE30 THAT IS VERY GOOD AND PROVEN MOTOR!! PUT THE MLD35 IT HAS THE WEIGHT MORE TO BALANCE (250grm) and the power plus to have the same performance as with the 50cc airplanes for this model .. i believe its the only way ... exept if you buy THE SBACH 342 FROM PILOTRC IT CAN FLY VERY WELL WITH A DLE30 ITS LIGHTER BUT PERSONALLY I LIKE MORE THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE OTHERS BECAUSE I PREFER A MORE HEAVIER CONSTRUCTION ....that in the long run will last longer + its much more cheaper in peakmodel the airplane was 370 us dollars delivered to your door pilotrc ask 499 + shiping i think ( check it out...)
OFCOURSE IF YOU CRASH A MODEL IT DSNT MATTER IF ITS LIGHT OR HEAVY ..

49dimes !! for the sbach do you think that the rear exaust will be better ( less cutting ??? ) and only a cut in the rear of the cowling ?

The rear exhaust version would make an easier cannister or tuned pipe installation. You would be able to get a better header pipe length adjustment for best RPMs
I dont know how a stock muffleler would fit on the rear exhaust. It may interfere with the motor box! The stock muffler on the MLD35(side exhaust)requires less cutting of the coweling than the DLE30 muffeler. I was able to adapt a DA 50cc header (25mm drop) to my MLD35 by slightly inlarging the header bolt holes towards center. about 1 mm on each hole.

49dimes did you notice any gas leakage (small drops of gas or oil ) in the airframe because the carburator was inside the airframe ???
thanks

Maybe just a little residue which is normal for most gas engines. One thing to check for shure is the carburator bolts. I have found them loose on both my 26cc and 35 cc motors. Some blue lock tight and moderate torque ofthe bolts will prevent air leakage and fuel drips.

Finally got an answer out of peak models. It says sorry, parts not available for two months. I guess I will check back in two months. I did see that Peak is now offering the MLD 35 in a combo for about 209. 289 by itself.

RE: PeakModel Sbach 300 30cc Build thread
I think it is a great design for sport, 3D and competition. I personally dont compete but none the less I love how it flies. I have since completed and flown the PILOT RC version and it came out super light at 10 lbs 2oz dry. I used a 26cc motor and my own custom carbon push rods and digital mini servos. This cut out about 6 oz of weight.
Like other manufactured sbachs it too came out tail heavy and 4oz of weight was added to coweling up front to get a balance point just ahead of center of the wing tube. As far as comparison to other designs I think it is just as good as an Extra 260 or Edge 540 and so on.
