Aerobeez 26% Yak 55M Build Thread
Every winter I put my trailer in storage, so I can put my SUV in the garage. Without access to my trailer, I have no way to haul my 50cc-150cc planes. I have been wanting to get a 30CC plane that would fit in my small SUV. That way I could still get out a fly on the occasional nice winter days. I have been looking at the planes listed on the Aerobeez website for the last few weeks. The Yak 55M looked like a good choice for practicing IMAC and for flying 3D. I ordered it and had it later that same week. UPS did some damage to the box but it was so well packaged that the parts inside were in perfect shape.
Here's a link to the plane. http://www.aerobeez.com/72-26-SCALE-...OW-ORANGE.html |

Here's pictures of the plane before assembly was started. It has a Carbon Fiber Landing gear, tailwheel bracket, wing and stab tubes. I was surprised to see that it had a tail tube, most planes this size have a one piece stab that is glued in place. The quality looks great.

All the control surfaces were pre-hinged but not glued. I used 30 minute epoxy to glue them in place. I also used 30 minute epoxy to install the control horns.

ORIGINAL: flygilmore Interesting......reminds me of the GW Yak55M. The Aerobeez Yak 55 is a little bigger at 75" wingspan, and the construction is different. See interior picks. Also I noticed the canopy is made differently. |

The holes for the switches are pre-cut in the fuse. Futaba SWH-14 Heavy duty switches fit right in.

Today I received a SE-32 from Giant Model Products. GMP added a single bolt prop conversion on it. I made a simple choke linkage. I will work on the throttle linkage tomorrow.

I'm waiting on delivery of the exhaust system. I ordered a Pitts muffler and a cannister system from SE Model Products. I am undecided on which one I will use. Hopefully they will arrive Tuesday.

fun,
that is a good looking airplane. you have any complaints about it yet? |
RE: Aerobeez 26% Yak 55M Build Thread
I am very happy with it, the paint matchs great and I haven't had to shrink the covering. I hoping that Aerobeez starts carrying a 50cc size Yak 55M. I should be getting the exhaust systems today and I also ordered a Jason Danhakl 4titudeRC 16 oz tank for it.
Here's their website http://www.fourtituderc.com/ |

Those fourtitude tanks are nice. I build my own using Fiji water bottles. There is a huge thread on water bottles as tanks at this link: http://www.flyinggiants.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=38890
***** = flyin_ Giant_ You have a guess on your RTF weight minus fuel? Also, can you confirm the wingspan? The website title shows it to be 72 inches, but the specs say 74 inches. Thanks |
