DA100 questions
I am about to make my mainden flight on my new compostite-arf with the new DA100. Should I use a 70:1 fuel ration or go directly to 100:1? I'd like to get them broken in properly.
Thank you. |
RE: DA100 questions
Read the directions and I think you will find they reccommend 32:1 for break in using ash-less 2 cycle oil.
I don't have my instructions in front of me but I know it's not 70 or 100:1. Good luck, you will love your Extra. Rob |
RE: DA100 questions
I know for a fact that the ration is 32:1 DA sats to use Lawn boy oil. The oil comes in a small can you mix the whole can with two gallons of oil.

mogles,
Here is a copy of the info you need. It appears on page 5 of the DA manual. Good luck. jef |
RE: DA100 questions
Guys,
I think this is a used engine. If so and it's broken in already I'd go right to 100:1 Amsoil, but that's just me... RickP |

RE: DA100 questions
if in doubt call DA! Part of owning the DA is having the best service a call away. They will help you out. I know they prefer it if you run amzoil 100:1 in thier engines after break in.

RE: DA100 questions
Thanks guys for everyone's reply. Yes it is a new engine. About 2 years ago I actually went to Tucson where a friend of mine bought a modified DA100. I distinctly remember being told that amsoil 100:1 is what I should use and I thinkg 75 or 80:1 for the first 2 gallons. In fact (I don't remember the person's name) but he gave us an example where someone brought an engine for repair and the whole thing (inside) was gooped up due to the use of unknown oil and in excessive quantity.
I will give them a call and thanks for eveyone's reply. steve |
RE: DA100 questions
Guess I should have read closer LOL,
BREAK IT IN with Lawn boy ashless 32:1 (2 gallons) RickP |
RE: DA100 questions
The recommended DA break-in process calls for 4 to 5 gallons of fuel.
Penzoil or Lawn boy ashless. See page 5 of the DA manual.. |
RE: DA100 questions
Thank you,
I stand corrected again. Just don't pay attention to anything I say please ;) RickP |
RE: DA100 questions
Now that I got all the fax I have one more question. The only place round here to get oil for 70 miles radius is a NAPA store. They have never heard of Lawn boy oil. However, one gentlman said that it is nothing but valvoline 2 stroke oil.
Where do I get some? Thanks again. |
RE: DA100 questions
I picked up the lawnboy ashless stuff at either Lowe's or Home Depot...one of the two ( they are bith realy close). Just check out where all the chain saws and weed wacker stuff is kept. Good luck with the new bird.

RE: DA100 questions
Ace Hardware also carries Lawnboy. If you can't find it, Echo also works well. Be sure to mix it to the oil manufacturer's instructions.

RE: DA100 questions
There was 2 DA/100 powered aircraft down our field today.
Bother stopped after awhile being on tick over and then trying to accelerate away again. We put it down to the change in temperature this weekend? Laura |
RE: DA100 questions
If you cant find Lawnboy, try Tanaka. I put 5 gallons of it through my DA at 32:1 for break in. The engine has never missed a beat, and runs very cool (120 deg F). I now run Amsoil 100:1 and it runs at about 150 deg F.
