If I have 1/3 scale plan, and want to have FedEx/Kinko's reduce it to 1/5 scale, at what percentage should they set the copier? I'm not sure of the figure I come up with and want to get it right the first time.

Multiply the width (length) of the wing x (times) 3.
Divide that number by 5.
Example:
wing width (Length) is 100 inches times 3 = 300.
300 divided by 5 = 60. That is the percentage of wht you need to shrink it.
The new drawing needs to be 60% of the 1/3rd drawing.

1/3 X 3 = 1 (100 %). 1/5 X 3 = 3/5 = 6/10 = 60/100 = 60%.

So, 60% of your 1/3 scale plans will give you 1/5 scale plans.

That's the type of reply I was hoping for. I came up with 60%, but by a different method. It's good to be sure.

1/3 X 3 = 1 (100 %). 1/5 X 3 = 3/5 = 6/10 = 60/100 = 60%.

So, 60% of your 1/3 scale plans will give you 1/5 scale plans.

I would probably determine the size of the model first based on what engine you expect to use.

Then reduce accordingly to the wing span or how the engine fits.
