old lanier cap 232 kit need thrust angles !
Thanks for reading !!! I have a buddy thats building a 80 inch cap 232 lanier kit. The plans appear to show no right or downthrust. but the nose of the cowl appears to have about a 4 deg. angle on the front for right thrust????? so i was wondering if anyone knew how much downthrust and right thrust to put on this monster. He is putting a dle 55 on it.
Thanks. John.
Thanks. John.

John,
The thrust angle all depends on the engine/prop combination he is going to use, a 2-blade will need less than a 3 blade. At 80 inches I'm betting on at ;east a 50cc with a 2 blade so I would start around 3 degrees, maybe 3.5 degrees right thrust

yep.... i havent flown this big of a gasser but i was guessing around 2 deg. both down and right. I think he is going to use a 22x10 xoar wood 2 blade. motor is a dle 55.

I would then do 3 degrees right, no down, he could always add washers behind the engine mount if he needs more. This is all assuming the engine box will be built and centered correctly. The 10 pitch of the 22 inch prop is equal to a larger 23x8 prop. He could easily turn a 23x10 on the DLE 55 and 24x8 ounce it's broken in
