What do you guys use to mouse proof that plane in storage?
I have some planes in a buddies garage and I want to mouse proof them for the winter. I have had mice in planes before and they can eat up wiring and balsa so need some advice.

What scale are they? I hang my 35 & 30% from the ceiling with a bike pulley system. Works great and no mice.

ON my RV I put one sheet of Bounce Fabric softener in each bay and the mice will not go near it. It would work in the plane all so. Just fold one sheet and put it right in the fuselage with the receiver and servos, you should be good to go.

Bounce works good. Lot of the car guys use it to keep rats and mice out of stored classic cars. They put a piece on top of each tire and in the floorboards. & engine bay.

Thanks for the ideas. I wonder if anyone has had the moth balls or dryer sheets have an adverse affect on wood or covering?

Paul,
If the moth balls contains napthta, it may stain - best is to wrap it in some plastic netting i.e. those net type bags one buy things like onions in. That way there is no direct contact with the wood or covering. Or stuff crumpled newspaper loosely in the fuse - also help for dampness and corrosion of the brass plug inners and other contact points.
Cheers

I had several airplanes hanging in my carport for about 4 years. The mice got inside the fuselages and wings. Ate balsa and servo wires. Wasps built mud nests inside the wings - one inside each rib bay!
Didn't know about it until I started to get back into RC flying again. If I'd known about the mothballs and Bounce I would have used it. Don't know if it will stop the wasps. Probably, but you might think about covering the small openings in wings with blue masking tape.

You guys are killing me. I never gave this subject the slightest thought ... as I put my planes in storage in the attic of a hanger. Can you think of a better place to find mice?
That was 3 years ago and I just signed up for another 3 year hitch. Goodness knows what I will find when I get back. Now how am I supposed to sleep?
Thanks a bunch!

I also use fabric softener sheets in my RV & models stored in the garage since a co-worker told me about that trick he used in his RV.
I buy the cheap No Name brand as they seem to "stink" more and you get more in a box.
So far so good.

Warning: Do not put these tablets IN your plane otherwise the mice might not get OUT, they will be stuck...

In my experience the softener sheets don't work. I had a car stored with 8 sheets in the car, on the seats and floor boards. Mouse poop on every sheet....[:'(] Oh, a mouse nest in the glove box, but no sheet there
