Default Big Hots?

Anyone got a big hots on the table? Got the plans and am thinking about building.

Had some questions about sourcing landing gear and cowl. Any ideas are appreciated

Thx

I just bought a set of plans off ebay. The cowl and wheel pants are available fromFiberglass Specialties. I haven't tried to source landing gear yet. I'm thinking that the gear from my Dynaflite Super Decathalon my work, I just have to dig out the kit and take some measurements.

I have a couple other projects ahead of it, so I probably won't start on it until next winter. I have an Ultrasport 1000 to finish, and a Dynaflite Super Decathalon to start!

Default RE: Big Hots?

Not to thread hi-jack....

But I just received my Big Hots (91") short kit I had cut from plans and it will be hitting the table soon. I also have the Ultra Hots short kit here and will be working on that sometime in the future.

My question was on engine size.

Will a ST G3250 power the 91" BigHots effectively? I have one on the shelf that needs a home.

I am trying to decide on the 3.2Hp / 1.99cu in 2.7lb G3250 or a 3.7Hp / 1.86cu in / 2.4lb DLE30 gasser for the Big Hots. Then someone chimed in and said put a 5.5Hp / 3.39cu in / 3.6lb DLE55 on it! I think that may be too much motor. The plans on the Big Hots calls for 1.5 or larger (shows 1.8 or G62 on Santich's website, I think the G62 is too heavy).

Any GiantScale guys out there willing to add some insight to this guessing game?

Big Hots -
91" Span
78" Length
1800Sq in Wingarea
All Up weight 17-18lbs

We're going with a Brison 4.2 gasser (brand new, never been cranked), did you get the guy in Texas to cut your short kit?

Actually found a guy right here in Florida. He also did my Super Hots (54" span / .61) & Hots (48" span / .40) short kits as well.

Since I am just back into the hobby after almost 20 years, I really have nothing to compare it to, but I felt the cost was well worth it as my business keeps me from fidning time to cut wood myself.

Quality Fiberglass.net?

I contacted those folks several times (with no reply as of yet) that have the 91" Big Hots with a glass fuse, canopy, cowl & wheel pants, comes with landing gear & plans as well as foam core wing, stab & rudder for $349 shipped.
But like I said, their website is up and showing it's available, but no return call or email as of yet.

Can't wait to see some photos of yours.

I contacted them weeks ago. Phone rang and rang and I have sent numerous emails. Oh well, there was a reason for it.

Just in case you or anyone else needs it, I will have the Ultra Hots (81") short kits in stock next week. I will also be carrying the Steve Santich 3D Hot Hots as well as the Wild Hots.
We are working on carrying several other Dan Santich kits / plans & Short Kits that have not been released in some time. Stay Tuned...

Yes sir Don, I sure will. I was told we would have them by week's end. As soon as I have them we will document them and get photos up.
It is our intent to carry Mr. Santich's entire line. We have reached an agreement and I cannot be any happier to be working with Steven and hopefully getting some
much needed attention to his line of aircraft.

Currently have 1 left. Shoot me your email address and we will send over a pay pal invoice for it if you want to grab it up before it's gone.
