I like the look of this plane alot.Should be a lot of fun to fly.You did a great job. Are there any wing tips on this model or is it squared off?

There are wing tips. I will be adding them after I give the panels a good sanding.

It looks like this is all that will be getting completed before my business trip on Monday. Too many things to get done around the house and yard before I leave.

One mistake I hade during the build I glued the wing rear hold down block in backwards[:@] I remember looking at it and I thought I had it in backwards so I turned it around and glued it in, well I had it right the 1st time. I will need to drill new holes in the block as it is not going to come out and use my soldering iron to release the glue that is holding the blind nuts in place.

Overall this was a very enjoyable kit to build and I can't wait to get it finsihed and go flying.

I am back from my business trip, was a bit tired today but I managed to fix the mounting holes for the wing. The wings, tail feathers and the fuse have been sanded. The wing tips are made up from 4 pcs. These have been glued up and I will let them dry until tomorrow. The tail feathers and the control surfaces still need the radius sanded around the perimeter. I should have the plane ready for covering this weekend if all goes well.

I am working on getting the wing tips installed and everything sanded in preperation for covering.
My fabric and dope arrived and if everything goes well I will start covering the plane this weekend. I will post some pics of the wings with the tips installed before I start covering.

The kit come with CA hinges but I prefer Robart Hinge Points. I will be drilling for the hinges before covering. CA hinges are probably fine it is just a preference change for me.
I stopped by the local H/S and picked up a prop/spinner and switches. I forgot all about the fuel tank and lines

Wing tips are installed and everything has been hinged.
I sanded the edges of all the flying surfaces round. I will give everything a good going over and inspect the glue joints then fill any dings and give it a final sanding before covering. If all goes well the faric will start going on tomorrow.
Later!!

Thanks Robert,

SDP, the color scheme will be a bit different for sure, I will be staying with a WWI theme but it will not be Red.

Covering will begin in the morning. I hope to have all the fabric applied tomorrow.

Well I was a bit optomistic
I do have everything covered except the aileron's and the wings. As you know a Good Ole fabric finish takes a bit more work. I am using using uncertified Poly-Fiber Lite for the covering and taughtening nitrate dope for attaching the fabric. I am also going to give the covering a thinned coat of the dope and finsih filling the weave with Polycrylic. The paint will be Krylon spray paint.
I will post some pics of the covering as soon as I have the last piece covered. I am trying hard to have this thing ready for a Fly-In at our club on the 16th. I also need to get my garden worked up and planted[:@].

Man I can't belive you made me stop to take pics

Here are a few pics of the fuse and the wing panel. I was able to place the factory edge of the rabric along the L/E for a nice clean seam. A few coats of Polycrylic and all the seams will disappear.

Sometimes I wish I liked iron on covering but I just hate dealing with the edges coming up and constantly haveing to reshrink the covering. This stuff stays down and doesn't need to be shrunk again.

The wings are covered and shrunk the aileron's will have to wait until tomorrow evening.
The covering job came out very nice and should really look good once the paint starts going down. Tomorrow I will start filling the weave of the fabric as well.

Thanks Robert,
I am going so fast(even for me) that I am not stopping to even look and enjoy. The kit really framed up well and was really easy to get it sanded nice and smooth in preperation for covering. I am off work this Wed. and will be working up the garden and working on the Stick.
The color scheme I have chosen looks good in my head we shall see how it looks on the plane.

Sweet! Have you tried polycrylic before? There's a horror story of the nonfuelproofness of that on a Hog Bipe going onconcurrently.

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_11105812/tm.htm

I still fuelproof fuselages and firewalls with Aeroglos butyrate and that brings back the brain-damaging stick and tissue free-flight and coltrol line builds of my youth. I should do a nostalgia build.

Oh, come on Anthony. Your going to try to sway my mind again, aren't you! I hear ya. You and Robert make very good arguments. I've still got time before my first covering job, who knows, maybe you'll change my mind again!

Take care,
David

P,S. Looking real good. But, SLOW DOWN! I can't keep up!
