Quick update, during final stages the balance point was found to be about 2 1/2" ahead of the instructions. I guess the heavier twin and wheel pants took the toll here. Moving the rudder servo to the rear was no where near what was needed. Rather than add more weight, I moved the wing forward 2 5/8". This put the cg just about perfect as per instructions. I can remember several years ago there was an ARF that came with two wing tube locations for this same problem. It's ready to go now, maybe this weekend.

Read through your rebuild - Very nice work!
I solo'd in a Cherokee 140 with a 180 mod back in the day.
It had the same trim scheme but a darker blue with a gold ascent stripe... I still remember the side no# 103JK!
Now if I could remember anything important... lol
Your bird is looking real fine. Enjoy your maiden and best of luck.

Got a chance to fly yesterday, two flights. Flies at 1 click of power once airborne. The 40cc twins would make more sense here, and possibly shave off 2 pounds. While I didn't weight the complete plane the sum of the parts is 23 pound with the additional mods added. It's a floater. I've added a bunch of expo to the throttle to improve low end control. reduced the elevator travel and added expo as well. Next time out will play with the Guardian more. I can say this, taking off in 3d mode was interesting to say the least. Might even get a photo or two.

WOW Tony, What a BEAUTIFUL PA-28. It is really a stunning looking model. You have done a super job on your rebuild. I would love love love to have a nice big Cherokee that looks like yours. Perfect "old school" Piper scheme to, as its one of my favorites. Please post some more pics, as I'm dying to see more. If you have a chance to take some vids, I'm sure all here would love to see them as well. Again, beautiful job. Too bad the RC Guys ARF does not come out of the box looking like yours. I would snatch one up in a second. : )

I made it to the Alliance Balsa Bees IMAA event this week with the Piper. I meet the owner of the full scale plane that I modeled the plane after, Forest Barber. Ends up he owns the airport as well. Had some great conversation and time together. My thanks to the members of the Balsa Bees for hosting the event. I'll be back. Here's a link to the event photos http://www.alliancebalsabees.com/35t...y-in-2014.html.

Jeff,
I'm turning a 20x10 3 blade for ground clearance, I don't what your engine will turn but it doesn't very much power to fly this bird. I have my throttle set to open 60% at full stick and rarely go past half stick on take roll in grass.
The photo below was from a fly in this past year at the Missed Approach field in Bentleyville, PA, home of the www.rcneighorhood. This plane also won the attached award at the "Wings Over Piper" fly in. This is the home of Piper located in Lock Haven, PA. I was quite honored to received this award. I really do enjoy this plane, I'm sure you will as well.

All I can say is they liked the Cherokee better and any Cub. I didn't vote, I just flew the plane on Friday and Saturday, the voting was done by the Williamsport RC Club. The announcer exampled that any Piper aircraft can win this award while the Cub is obviously the most recognized Piper aircraft. I made it into the November issue of MA as well. It is a great fly-in at the home of the Piper Cub. I will go back.
