1/3 scale Super Cub. BUSA or Robart gear?
Hello
I´m considering scratchbuilding a 1/3 scale Super Cub from BUSA plans, and I´m looking at gear options. BUSA sells the assembled gear seperately for 288,75$, while Robart´s offering is only 185$.
What does the extra 100$ get me compared to the Robart gear?
Thanks in advance.

Robart gear is second to none, at $100 savings there's really no discussion. I built mine from the parts in the kit, everything is silver soldered while the Robarts are tig welded. Once covered with fabric there's not much to see anyway, buy the Robart unit.

Where can we buy/get the bungee chord material.
Can surgical tubing work.
I agree on the "O" Rings, thet do work but I have to replace them every other week in the heat and busy flying season!

RE: 1/3 scale Super Cub. BUSA or Robart gear?
Hi all
I have 3 of the Balsa USA Cubs, and one with the Robart Gear. They all work the same, but I did not use the orings that came with the Robart. I bought the bungee from Balsa USA, it was very reasonable. I beleive I used an 8 foot lenght to do the Robart gear one. I also did my 1/4 scale Cub with a Robart set up. If want to save a few more bucks when purchasing the Robart Gear, go to the Toledo Weak Signal Show. They offer a really good show price for the gear, thats where I got my gear from/

RE: 1/3 scale Super Cub. BUSA or Robart gear?
A friend of mine built a Super Cub a few years ago, and I´m hoping that I can take over his plans, and that there is enough info to scratch build from them. But I havent seen them, so I do not know at this time.
I have considered buying the kit, but the lowest prices I have seen in europe is around 1500$, which is quite far removed from the 700$ BUSA asks. So I´m going the scratch build route if at all possible.
@Morgan: Being in Denmark, I think that the added cost of going to Toledo, to save a bit on the Robart gear, would tip my budget, but thanks for the suggestion... :-)
Anyway, I´m not in a hurry as I have to finish a 1:3 Wilga first.

I have tried several different sources for the bungee cord. The BUSA seemed to me to be a better quality with regard to elasticity and durability than any of the other sources .

RE: 1/3 scale Super Cub. BUSA or Robart gear?
@Tony. Yep, on top of the price from BUSA, including shipping, I have to pay 12% tax and 25% VAT to get it to Denmark.
The prices I have quoted earlier is from a shop in Germany, on top of which I would have to pay shipping, likely to be at least 100$, but no further tax or VAT, but all in all it would end up rather expensive.
If I buy the Robart gear, and the cowl/plans from BUSA, I hope to be able to keep the price a little lover.

RE: 1/3 scale Super Cub. BUSA or Robart gear?
I managed to track down a partly built BUSA Cub recently, built from plans only so no cowl and gear included. So I have ordered the Robart gear, and I´m looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.
It will be "Alaskyfied", so I have ordered 8in balloon wheels for it, along with an 3,4in (1:5 scale) Cub wheel for the tailgear. Unfortunately the wheels are not quite large enough, but it will look better than the stock 5,5in Cub wheels.
Engine will be a Zenoah GT-80, which should provide scale power.
