Hey Vincent, I'm in. Should be another great build. I have been busy with my new motorcycle so I am trying to rack up some miles before snow has me beached in the basement in full-on build mode. Thanks for getting this thread moving, now I have something to look forward to!

Hi Vincent,
I too am watching and have enjoyed all your builds. I like the ideas and building skills you use to make a straight true model. I am still trying to figure out how to post so hopefully this will work
Thanks Paul

Welcome back Dave, it will be nice to see the comparisons of this build to that of yours... Can't remember if your plane was an Extra or an Edge?

Looks as though you figured it out Paul. Are you guys getting snow up north yet? Do me a favor try to keep all of that cold air to yourselves this winter! LOL

Welcome back for more Murphey! I'll wear it just for you...

Now that weather you can send us Paul.

Just to give everyone an update, I'm still waiting for my laser cut ribs, which were supposed to be delivered last night, but never got them. I'm hoping they show up this evening. Parts from Fiberglass Specialties (cowl and wheel pants) are being delivered on the first of October and my CF parts should be here by the middle of next week. As soon as the ribs come I will be able to measure the wing tube opening and order the correct size sleeve and CF wing tube, then I can start building!

A large package awaited me when I got home from work today, the canopy and laser cut parts as well as the rest of the balsa sheeting was included in this shipment. Having never built from plans before, I really didn't know what to expect. My excitement to open the box was short lived as all I could hear myself mutter under my breath was - "What did I get myself into?" . After looking at all the unlabeled parts in the bags, this will be challenging to say the least!!! There is a 27% Edge in those bags... I think.

Vincent you should have cut them your self, at least you would know what and where they go. You may be getting that scroll saw before you get done, just had to say that, ha, ha ! Besides, it's fun spending hours and hours and hours relaxing at the saw.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Cliff...(I think) The number of parts don't bother me as much as the jumbled mess they come in. This may be normal, it's just something I guess I'll have to start getting used too...

Gary, the laser parts seem to be cut very well with very little burning, as far as how they fit I will let you know as I will be dry fitting one of the wing halves shortly. I need to go out and buy a new piece of sheetrock for my build table this morning. I got two builds from one sheet and now it's time to replace it. I will also be ordering my wing tube and sleeve today. I'm getting close to opening that bottle of glue!

Leroy, did you order you wing tube from TNT?

Hey VJ, at least you didn't jump in to a 40 % for your first plan build. I have to think you would probably be having ALOT more of those thoughts. I'm sure once you get going it will just fall together. Steve.

Thanks for the encouragement Steve. My small shop wouldn't allow me the space that I need to build a 40% plane though... I am probably putting my house up on the market this spring and my next workshop, well then that would be another story!

I went to the lumber yard this AM and bought a 4x8, 1/2" thick sheet rock which I trimmed down to size to fit my build table. For under 10 bucks its the best work surface that lays flat and holds pins for me. In case your wondering what the green edge on the sheet rock is for, that is tape that I put on to protect me from getting chalk all over me during the build as I'm always rubbing against its edge. Along side my build table is my mobile adjustable tool platform that I like to use to keep the tools that I need at the ready. It's always a good feeling to get a fresh sheet of build plans on the table! Won't be long now boys and girls...

I also use drywall to build on. My opinion is the best to build on. So what your saying, you want to sell your house and buy a workshop with a house off of the back? Cool. I look forward to the next couple of weeks when you crack the glue and go to town. Steve.

Yes Vincent, tnt for tubes and superstar tail wheel. They are in the process of moving and things are a bit of a mess right now but was told they would cut the tubes right away and get them right out to me, nice people. They should show up any time, I hope.

Thought I would get the ribs ready so when the wing tube and carbon fiber strips arrive I can get moving...

I laid out the ribs over the plans and numbered them 1-14, also numbered are the rear portion of the ribs which will be cut off for use in the aileron construction. The rib doublers were numbered (W1A-W5B) as well, these will give additional rib support for the wing tube sleeve. Once I receive the wing tube and sleeve I will have to make the necessary adjustments to enlarge the holes in the wing for proper fit.

A couple of other sources for tailwheels to consider: https://sites.google.com/site/jjtailwheels/home and what I have personally used for 2 years on my 104 AJSlick: http://whiteroseeng.com

Just ordered my 1" Phenolic Sleeve and Carbon Fiber wing tube from TNT. Here is the link: http://www.tntlandinggear.com/welcom...ne_catalog.htm

Once they arrive I can then enlarge the openings to receive the sleeve in the ribs...

Vincent I did get my tubes and I should have gotten the Phenolic sleeves but opted to make my own then I will enlarge my holes for them also. Your build will be more technical than mine but you know that already.

Going to be nice to see another one of your first class presentations.

Thanks Leroy, I'll try my best!

Well I heard a knock'n at my back door and I rushed to go see if it was a pretty blonde, it wasn't but it was the next best thing , the UPS delivering my cowl and wheel pants. The cowl is huge, I can't wait to tear into this build. All I'm waiting for at this point is the wing tube and sleeve...

And all this time I thought the best thing next to a blonde was a brunette!
