Vincent, the airplane looks great! One thing I did notice, those ingenious tabs for checking your balance has the pivots well ahead of the wing tube. What % are you using for your balance point?

You are correct that the CG is ahead of the wing tube. The balance point from measurements off the plans was 4" back from the LE. I called Doug at D&L Designs to confirm this and he assured me that this was correct. It will be a good starting point, which may be altered after tests of the initial flight. Good catch, as many people seem to think the wing tube or spar is always the balance point...

Kevin, too funny! Their are times when we all have to break down and go the ARF route. In this case the new Aero-Works 70" Lazer is just calling my name....

I can't fault you for wanting an ARF, but how about the other 99% of winter? What's this kit you made reference to? Will that be after your ARF assembly? BTW, what a genius idea of the balance buddies. I wish I saw that before spending all that time building a Vanessa rig.

Steve, a while back I was fortunate enough to find a vintage Sig Morrisey Bravo kit. They are very hard to find, and if you do find one they are pretty pricey. I will probably start assembling the ARF first then move on to the kit.

The balance buddy works real well and can be made for pennies...

I assembled two ARFs in a week, getting them maidened in that timeframe, too.

The Bravo will take a little bit longer. Mine took all Winter. You'll like it, I'm sure. What are your plans for power ?

Probably something in a DA50 Tom. When I saw your Bravo I knew I just had to have one!

Here are some shots of one wing half (minus the aileron) covered. I hope the large checks will make it more visible in the air...

Steve,I love my vanessa rig, it takes about 10 min to assemble from scrap wood and even less time to set up. Did you find it hard to use? I would say if anyone here has not used one you give it a try, there is no concern of ever damaging your plane and it works on any plane right side up.http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/tips...g-rig-how.html

When building your Bravo, Vincent, keep an eye on balance. Mine balanced perfectly with a G-38, if your DA weighs less, you may have to move things forward.

Rapture boy, I didn't find it hard to use at all. In fact, quite simple. I really like it. The only difficulty I had was lack of room in my shop. I had to keep getting down on my hands and knees crawling under the wings. Lol. Other than that, cake. And now I have one and don't need to make another. The Bravo is also on my to-build list. Some day.

Wow Vincent, I think you are the only builder I have ever seen that has such neat edges on their covering (4th picture, root rib), a place that no one will even see when assembled. The rest looks perfect too.
I now know where to send all my un-built planes
Don't get too big a head from all these compliments OK, it might explode!

That looks great Vincent. I assume the checkered is the bottom, and also wonder if you are going to put some kind of striping on the top?

Yes, the checkers is on the bottom of the wing. Once the plane is assembled, I will give some thought about what type of vinyl graphics I'll add to pretty her up...as far as more striping on the top, what you see is all she gets!

I did not mean it was not nice, just wondering if you were adding anything else, not necessarily a stripe per say.

Well if your doing wheel pants Vince you had better go back and get some on your SW, ha ha. Your paint job came out very nice and some kind of graphics would add to the nice job you have already done on it. Pieces of painted planes never show the whole charater of them, that will show up when it's all together. I think the main thing is, If your happy with it thats all that counts, we all know the quality is in it.

Looks great VJ. Will it have wheel pants? Can't wait to hear how well the maiden go's. Good luck with it, not that you'll need it. Btw, I think I may have already asked, but will you ever fly the BEAUTIFUL Ryan in the background?

Slick looking bird, Vince

The paint and covering make a great match. If you didn't know, you could not tell what is paint and what's not.
A tribute to great painting and covering.

Have you had much experience at 3D flying ?

Kevin
