Great to hear the maiden went so well! Looking forward to seeing it at the field someday soon... like tomorrow.

Thanks Matt for taking and posting that video! My plane looked so big on my work table, but it was the smallest plane on the field! Now I need to build a larger one...hmmm.

Congrats on your completed and successful build and maiden !

Like you and a few others, I get the engine running reliably and fly it, too.

Very nice presence in the sky, but I think you need a bigger engine. LOL! Very well done Vincent, looks to be a real smooth flier.
I know an excellent "BIG" one you can do next. LOL.....

Epilogue

I would like to thank all of you that have followed this thread. Your comments have not only been valuable getting my Edge to where it is now, but they have made me smile throughout this build as well. For those of you that have followed some of my other threads, then you know that at the completion of my builds, I like to add a manufactures list along with web sites for parts and equipment used though out. It will be updated over time so if you don't see something immediately, don't fret I'm working on it!

To think that just last September (2013), I had the plans along with a mountain of wood sitting on my dining room table eager to begin. Here we are August (2014) and my beloved Edge has already taken flight! Building a precision 3D plane comes with its own complexities. Working with wood thinner than I'm used to and making the structure come out straight was challenging. I cursed and loved this build from the start, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. With each build I have tried to incorporate methods that I have not done before, and this one pushed me to my near limits, from working with carbon fiber to sheeting the entire plane just to name a few. I hope by documenting this build through narration and photos, I could show how I have done things that could be duplicated with the same or better results.

So, what's next, I don't immediately know but I hope that you will all join me on my next...

God Bless,

VJ

Looks good. Buildin a big 3D model is something I've always wanted to do, too.

I know where you live, well at least your town. Nice picture of a happy man and his airplane, a real nice finish to the summer.

Big congrats on the successful first flight Vincent, lovely bird which I hope you get years of enjoyment out of.
Thanks for posting your build, I look forward to the next one. Maybe something out of the ordinary, like a giant scale gyrocopter?

I've got to say ditto to all the above! Yes, thanks for inviting us all along on the ride, and a great one it was. I can't wait to see what you come up with for the next one, but I have to agree with davevh: do something out of the ordinary.

Hi Vincent, i agree with everything already said. Congratulations on a great build and successful flight! And I want to thank you for taking the time to write these build threads. I've learned a lot from you and my builds have improved a lot. Thanks again and I'm looking forward to you next build. I'm hoping for the Bravo. I love those old Sig kits.

Thanks for the kind words from everyone...It's time to enjoy the fruits of my labor for awhile before I get into my next project.

I just ordered a double wing bag for my Edge, I got tired of transporting the wings wrapped in blankets! I will also be ordering a new carbon fiber landing gear for it soon as well, I want the plane to sit up a bit higher to give me better prop ground clearance. The cleanance between the prop and the ground during landings is a bit too close for me, raising it up about 2" should do the trick. For now I have installed larger wheels to get around the problem as a temporary solution.

Yeps, I hate having to worry about keeping the tail low on landings. ( hate even worse smashing off the tips of a good prop).

Sheesh! At 65 bucks a prop, it sounds like it already got expensive! At least to me, but then I'm cheap.

David, any good carbon fiber prop the size that I'm using (Mejzlik 22x8) will cost you that much... It ain't cheap!
