Default Seagull Erco Ercoupe Zenoah G-38

Hi there

My name is Ariel Gangas, I'm from Chile, specifically in the city of Concepción, this is my first post on this forum and will ask you to forgive me for my english is very bad, but hope to be improving it over time.
I did not know where he formally introduce myself, if I can help alguin happy do and tell them more than me.

Well, step by detailing the construction of my model.
I bought a Seagull 35-45cc Ercoupe is my first large scale after 10 years of flying glow.
I ride a Zenoah G-38 as the aircraft is heavy-tailed, and the Zenoah magneto is a heavy, old but reliable motor.

Some specifications.

Seagull ARTF Ercoupe 35-45CC
Wingspan - 98.4ins (250cm)
Wing area - 1576.4sq.ins (101.7dm)
Suits - 35 - 45cc
Factory covered with Oracover
Length - 67.3ins (171.0cm)
Approx flying weight - 13.2 - 15lbs (6-7Kg)
Radio - 6 Channel with 7 High Torque servos
Flying skill level - Intermediate / Advanced

This is a review of the aircraft in Germany ... speak highly of him, saying it's like to fly a trainer on steroids, D I really liked the model because out of the ordinary.

Here are some photos of the plane ...

The ZENOAH G-38 as I have read here in this forum is one of the best engines Zanoah

The G-38 comes in perfect Cowling, I think the only thing to break is the cable outlet.

We continue to make progress, we present the vertical tailplane to see the fit, the good thing is that all these ARF comes perfect.

Cut the edge of the stabilizer MONOKOTE to have the maximum area of contact in order to obtain the same resistance.

The epoxy used was the best you can get in the market, METALSET, is an aeronautical glue widely used in aviation, it is very firm so well as utilize the bonding of the horn, and it has never given me a lot of confidence greatplanes epoxy glue and less on this scale.

And pasted the result is this

Details make the difference ... "Skid Tapes" for pilots, just like a real plane. For this a piece of 120 grit sandpaper and a little metal epoxy support the cause ... well, Canito, my assistant pet watching the maneuver

The main servos are Hitec HS-615MG for ailerons, elevator for Hitec HS-5625MG and rudders for a CS-239mg formats Crown "Slim" for one Hextronic nosewheel HX12K, for cutting engine with a Hitec HS-311 and one for food 2S 3300 mah Lipos with MEGABEC 8 amperes as a regulator.

After strongly paste brackets servos and screw with rubber bands (the servo brought tapes duplex to be glued idea discarded for installation to standard screws) we are ready to mount on the tail, looked egg as small servos but have a respectable force (4 kgs according to the box) sufficient for the rudders, plus the slow-flying aircraft is so much power it will do.

El Flaco, Your Ercoupe looks very good. I also like them. I owned a full size Ercoupe in 1967 and then built a model of it in 2000. The model is powered by a 50cc engine with a 20X11 propeller. It flies very well. Good luck with your Ercoupe. Dan.

el flaco26 - did you ever finish up this model and fly it?

Is anyone selling this in the US?

Sig has acquired the rights to Seagulls Models and have started to stock the planes. The Ercoupe hasn't been on their list to import yet. I sent an email asking them to import the Ercoupe. Send them an email, the more interest, the more likely they will bring it over.

Steve, If you care to build one, Nigel Tarvin has plans and a few goodies for a similar sized Ercoupe. http://www.tarvinmodelproducts.com/p...l/ercoupe.html

I built one, years ago, and powered it with a G-38. The model flew well, but could have used a little more power.

Tom,
Thanks for the link, I've missed this website. Definite possibility, as I don't really like Seagulls finish scheme. Fiberglass fuse makes it even better. Nigel has several planes I want. Just need more time, already backed up several years on building.

Steve.

Mine didn't have a glass fuselage. Building it took some time and thought.

The glasswork takes away the most time consuming part of the build.
