Got the maiden in yesterday, 5 or 6 flights, flies great, very cub like. The engine sounds great with the cans, not overbearing but not to quit.

should get some more flights in, pics and video hopully.

Yes I did not get much flying in, maybe 10 short flights. Once I get to fly in a none event environment I can play and do some onboard video.

So the navigation lighting system I have is not doing it, way to weak. I am putting together a new system from parts I am finding around the net.

I found some 8mm 1w super bright pre wired LEDs that can be hooked up directly to 6v to 9v batteries. I will be using a Rcxle optical switch ($15) and a Lilo 8v battery. For the landing lights I will swap out the weak LEDs and use two 10w 12v lights from Home Depot on another Rcxle and a 11v batery. This should do great and I'm looking into a strob from my local auto parts store.

I also found these LED 8mm holders on eBay, 100 for $7

So one thing I like about new builds is I get to tweak them after the maiden. I picked up a new tail wheel assembly from Ohio superstar products, it is a steel leaf solid asembly with a 3" wheel, much better looking and works great, that little 1-1/2" was just not looking right, although it worked it was to small. Next I am setting up my new navigation lighting. I am replacing the LEDs on the landing light with two 20w 12v halogens, this is on a Rcexl optical switch and for now on a 8v Lilo but I will get a 11v lips soon.

The strobes are on a Rcexl switch with a 8v lilo and will be installed on top and bottom of the fuselage, a third Rcexl switch will operate the red and green 1w 8mm LEDs on the wing tips.

Also I need to open up the cowl a little for cooling. I got a sail plane toe release I need to install too.

I am hoping to get that done this weekend, then off to Kingsbury to their Aerodrom for a spring fly, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Got most of the mods done short of the wing tip light housings, I have some temp strobes in until the light housings are done but at least the wiring is in.

The lighting systems are in, one is for landing lights and the other is for the nav lights. I still have the whimpy system in for the tail light and for the dash lights, that still runs off the receiver bats.

For now I have a 2300 7.4v lilo on wing and strob lights, on a Rcexl and the landing lights are on a 7.4v 2300 lilo also with a Rcexl.

strobe top and bottom.

The equipment is all strapped down and ready for a range test, need to make sure the strobe won't interfere.

I also got the cowl done, finally cut in the vents and added the screen.

Additinal cooling exit was cut in too, just to make sure she gets enough air flow.

On the wing struts they where pretty sloppy and rattled during flight, yes you can hear them as the cans are so quiet.

So I got some neoprene washers to fill the gaps.

Here is what it looked like before.

Here is what they look like with the washers in, nice and tight and no slop at all, should cut down the nois by 95%

For the upper brace it is all tight but the strut is hollow and will crush so I used a neoprene metal washer in the inside so I can tighten it down without crushing the strut brace.

With the washer it is tight now.

I still need to do the wing tip nav housings but the strobes will do until I get some LEDs and finish the housings.

For the sail plane tow release I will use a linear servo and install that later this week, should be strait forward.

Last but not least I mounted my camera inside the cab and will do some flights with it there, then move it out to the wing struts, and on top of the fuselage for sail plane towing.

hello, I'm about a week away from ordering the L-4 version and was wondering if a DA-85 would have enough power to fly it? I don't plan on any 3d stuff, I plan on flying her to relax .thanks.

I finally got to finishing the wing tip navigation lights.

Nothing fancy but bettr then just sticking a LED in the tip.

The LEDs are 1w 8mm, I only have red as green is on order and should be here next week.
These LEDs come aready to hook up directly to a 6v -12v batterie.

They are pretty bright!

I will put these on a Rcxel and mixed with ignition.
