On to the fuselage, applied glass cloth to firewall / engine box. Will glass inside next.
Anyone know what types of glues used in this ARF? Very brittle stuff not surprised of the failures reported.

Glassed both sides of the firewall and painted all things grey. If cracks develop the painted surfaces will easily show them.

I don't have my Citabria yet (on backorder for early April), but I am getting ready. Got my O.S. GT33 today. It did not come with any standoffs, so I need to buy some. How do I determine what size and where do I get them from?

I followed the instructions and was surprised to find Shoe Goo at my local hardware store (about five formulas). I am very pleased with the results. The stuff works great and can see using it in other applications. Thanks for your help.

You will need 1-1/2" stand off mount plus 3/16" stack of flat washers

Hey, guys my Citabria took a dirt nap today, total loss, Battery failure?? after a touch and go (Best one to date) turned down wind and when I tried to turn base leg, no control. It was wings level, half power, very slight down attitude. It went for about 1/2 mile when it crashed into the wheat field. I have a new set of GP landing gear, never used, if anyone need them, just pay the shipping. Email me at [email protected] .

Michael, it is all out in the trash bin for pick up tomorrow. I salvaged everything I could, the TNT gear was twisted really bad, it went to the trash too. I think the new DLE 35ra is ok and most of the servos. I am not sure about the 7 channel Hitic receiver. Such as the RC airplane world, Sh*t happens.

Progress is a bit slow, too much going on in life. Cutout the wheel pants to fit 4" diameter Dubro #400-TV wheels. Navigation marker light on tail. Hanging engine next......

I am just about finished with my 1/4 scale SPAD XIII. Putting on the last color, then a clear coat. Then I install everything and hopefully it will ready to fly in time for the Oklahoma Dawn Patrol in July.

Default 25% Super Decathlon by Bill Hemple

Assembling a Bill Hemple 25% Decathlon for a friend....anyone have any suggestions/improvements?

Just glued the horizontal on...now working on the landing gear. The Hardware package weighs almost 2 pounds!

Do not know if the Hemple Decathlon will be gasoline powered if so the firewall is too thin, should be 5/16 to 3/8 thick. Add triangle gussets and glass all joints.
---But that's my opinion

They suggest 30-50cc engines, and I guess the owner wants a 55cc in her, so yes, I WILL beef up the firewall area!

Add some thin CA to the fuse frame, some times the laser cutted parts do not absorbs the glue.

Wow! It only has a 1/4" firewall! Gonna glass the engine area for sure. Added a bunch oft triangle stock to the 'box', now to glass it all.

Thanks for the suggestion....I noticed some wood not tight against other wood, going with thick CA there.

New to the party this is a older RC Guys 98" Decathlon.Has a DLE55 and flys great. The covering is a mess as the trim does not like to stay put.

Finished up my GP Citabria. Very nice arf. I did strengthen the firewall. EME 35 for power, power HD-1501 servos.

Also finally got back to work on the 35% AMR Decathalon.

That Decathlon is looking sharp. I wish I had the room to build again.

Here is my Dynaflite Decathalon
After nine years of towing duty she finally succumbed to an off field landing. I have a kit in my stash waiting to be built.

On another note I am searching for a Midwest Citabria kit or even just the plans,

Tony
