Great thread guys. Here's a pic of my 1/4 scale Pilot Decathlon, built by a great builder friend of mine. Probably the best example of this kit that I've ever seen. I love Decathlons!

Decathlon 25%
After reading your thread, I would like to join the group. I have just bought a used 25% Bill Hemple Decathlon from a fellow club member that came with servos.
For some reason the photos are not posting as usual.
I have added the following equipment; DA 50, JTec muffler, JR 8 channel radio for my JR 28X transmitter, Safe Fly receiver and servo board, Safe Fly power control, Safe fly ignition control, 3 1900 LIFE batteries.
More detail, when I figure out the problem with the photos.

EJ suggested to me to start this brotherhood since there was none around the Citabria/Decathlon, here we can shear, enjoy and brag about our models also we can use this thread to keep up with updates and mods as needed.
It will be nice if you can tell us a story or post pictures, maybe how you end up or why you have one of these two airplanes.
Please feel free to post pictures and videos of your pride and joy.
Here we go.
I own GP Citabria 30cc, its a new airplane in the market, it needed some mods before it was ready for the flying field, I have flown it seven times only, the WX and other things have limited the flying time, the few times that I have flown her have been awesome!

I am Carlos M. and since 2007 I have acquired a built-up (fully assembled) Midwest Citabria (80 - 3/4 inch wing span) and she is a true lady of the sky. Being only Electric RC Flyer, I converted it over from formerly being SAITO 90 to being powered by a large 55mm diameter Hextronix 400Kv brushless outrunner motor and commutation handled by Castle Creations High Voltage HV-45 Electronic Speed Controller (without onboard Battery Eliminator Circuit) thereby, I use a separate Receiver Battery with switch harness.
Of course being that I have owned this large Citabria since 2007 the history first starts at when I converted it to Electric using the large ASTRO FLIGHT 60 Brushed Direct Drive with 360Kv. and back then, using the 2200mAH 3-Cell, Lithium Polymers in series using three (3) in series and another (3) in parallel for a grand total of 37.8 Volts (Off the Charger) and total capacity of 4,400mAH. The brushed motor did very well and it flew like the majestic large Citabria that it is. However, being this my very first large scale model, I encountered some mishaps and one of them having it stall and bending the frontal shaft of the ASTRO FLIGHT 60.
Fast forward to today, the Hobby King (Formerly known as UNITED HOBBIES) the Hextronix 55mm Brushless outrunner performs very well and with great power using the 3-Cell, 5,000mAH, 35C, Lithium Polymers by TURNIGY. I have a total of 4 of these packs and fly the Citabria with two in Series for a grand total of 24.84 Volts (Off-The-Charger). Being that there is less Voltage is not a problem since the Hextronix 55mm Brushless motor has a higher 400Kv rating and pumps out the power well and its less weight than the ASTRO FLIGHT 60. Additionally, the use of a larger propeller also adds significant power at the business end.

That is a nice Decathlon rossmick, a DA 50 hey? What's the weight of it as it seats? Guapoman2000 thank you for the details of your MidWest Citabria, I always wanted to build one, I think they look really cool.
Welcome to the gang.

Newer Thunder Power 2-Cell, 1800mah, Lithium Polymer Receiver Pack
Hello Again!
I am pleased to announced that the Thunder Power 2-Cell, 1800mAH, Receiver pack is performing very well and after 6 flights I am finally topping it off on the charger.
Just measured it and it was at 8.16 Volts and the full Off-The-Charger level should be at 8.4 Volts so, not bad on the amount of flights with an average of 7 minutes each flight (total of 6 flights) and using an in-line Voltage Regulator at 6-Volts.
Here is a picture of the newer Lithium Polymer receiver pack that replaced the 5-Cell Ni-MH that got really tired.

Got myself an rcguys decathlon last year that I stripped and recovered in solartex. Have a g38 for it but am actually going to throw a 1.6 rimfire in it. Hoping to get it on floats in a few months. Photo was taken before covering was removed.

It has been a while since I have been on this site since my GP Decathlon took a "Dirt Nap" in '15. Last January, I found a RC Guys Decathlon with a G-38 and hd servos for a very reasonable price. I did fly it and it flew well, but the covering was not that great and I wanted to put a DLE-35Ra on it. I covered black & white because I could match the paint with the covering. I am very please with the results.
The last two days the weather in northern Oklahoma was beautiful, little wind and temp. around 55 degrees. Our club always has a New Years Fun Fly, I spent the last two days at the field. It was wonderful, flying and the chily and fixin'.
Here are some pictures before and after.

Gentlemen, Please add me to your brotherhood and assign a number to my name... I have two decathlons and have been flying them for years. One of them, pictured here is an RC Guys.com decathlon with a DLE 55 engine with smoke. LOVE this plane and how it flies. My other Decathlon is a H9 giant scale 138'' wing span...it's huge. It has a DLE 120 twin. This plane also has a smoke system in it.
Notice the broken prop... it nosed over on a windy day after landing, an up draft caught the tail feathers before I could kill the engine. Seems it was safer in the air than on the ground that day.
