Thanks guys!
I don't think alcohol will hurt anything, I use it for general clean up of gunk that alcohol will dissolve. But alcohol will likely not remove the gummy residue from tape and stickers. You should have good luck with the lighter fluid. Good luck

I am waiting for them to tax oxygen

spaceworm have you tried the local airport and av gas? It is not adulterated and they don't put the stuff in it that makes the smell.. Small engines don't really care much what octane you run through them.

I was going to try the av gas just for the reason that it doesn't have the alcohol in it... at least I think that what it was that it doesn't have. But then a friend warned against it for a reason I can't remember right now. Now I'm just confused on the subject!

As for using lighter fluid, I don't have any anymore. I've got a gas grill now so there's no need, I took what was left and "donated" it to our cabin. And speaking of taxing and outlawing, I'm surprised California hasn't banned the use of charcoal briquettes or taxed the heck out of it! They're doing it with gas and "junk food" and anything else they can!

That's what I thought. I just can't recall what the reason was to not use it.

alcohol absorbs water. The last thing you need in your plane is water in your gas tank. Makes for a bad day.
My late father in law found that out. Almost went down in rough terrain, but it stayed running, just rough and low power. He had been using gas station gas. It had water in it.

Here is a good read on AV gas and other gases to use in our engines: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/gas-...s-engines.html
Only three reasons I would use it : 1. Smells much better, 2. No alcohol. 3, Stores for long periods. Biggest Con: Lead in it fouls plugs and valve stems. Plus I do not need the high octane.
Sincerely, Richard

The address to that link on AV gas here on RCU did not paste. Just copy the title and put in the search function of RCU.

Getting closer! Between yesterday evening and this evening, after work, I was able to cover the bottom, stitch and pink it. Maybe this weekend I'll be able to shoot the clear coat and lay down the NC.,, which got here about a week ago. Pretty darn fast in my opinion!

Oh, I almost forgot to mention, I pick up some Goo Gone. That stuff works great! Thanks for the advice!

Looks great. Aside from the NC, you'd never know. Well done.

I'm not finished yet. Not counting my chickens at this point.

I also forgot to mention, I found my streamline tubing. With so many repairs and builds going on all at once... well, okay, many repairs and one build, I couldn't see it for the mess!

BAH-Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! In fact, if it wasn't for the OT at work, I'd be flying every single weekend! No ice, no sleet, no snow, heck we don't even get rain anymore! Uh... that last one is actually bad, really bad.

We are welcoming spring up here in CT with 5 inches so far of new snow. Our East Coast Swamp Fliers RC Club field will never be dry; I will have to fit floats to my Spacewalker/FA-130T.

Rchard, up here in bristol, where I am, that's exactly what I'm doing in a bit. Going float flying off the new snow. Might as well. If I wait for spring, well, I might as well just sell off my planes. Lol.

I moved to Guilford from Fredericksburg, VA 3 years ago. For a lot of reasons including the weather, I haven't flown yet. Joined the ECSFRC club and waiting for spring this year.
I was at Bradley AP this past Wed. Seemed not as much snow there as we have.
Where do you fly?

Sincerely, Richard

LoL... I have seen some amazing / talented builders over the years, and the more mess and clutter there is, the better looking the finished model turned out... CFF you must have one heck of a mess over there.
