Thats well thought out. I like it. Did you know that this year is the 70th Anniversary of the Pitts.

The tailwheel arm, flying wire bracket, and hatch is in and finished. The tail is done with the exception of the pushrods and cable exits, of which will be after receiving and installing the servos. There is sheeting the nose which closes it up of which I can't do until the tanks are finished. As well as the bottom wings are needed to set the balsa trim on the fuse. So I will install the main gear and set it aside until supplies come in.

Wish I lived closer to the event. Could you imagine with both your builds there people would be lining up for you to build one for them...

Well, it is a full scale event, so I don't know about that. I hope you don't mind but I made new front mounts for yours, same as I did on mine. The kit ones are made of a composite that looks like the old style computer board. I found it did not take much of a bump on the gear for the front ones to break. Mine are made of 5 ply 5oz glass and super strong without the brittleness.

I think I am done for the day which means I am done until Sunday. The flying wire brackets were mounted to the nose then I marked them for the notch out for the L/G mount. In order to cut the wire mount I need to change the band saw blade out from wood to metal. That takes about an hour to do and I just don't feel like it tonight, too many tedious adjustments involved. Will be back Sunday!!!

From the pics, I have the same exact band saw as you Robert. Well actually TWO. I picked up the second for FREE, NADA$, ZIP, ZERO. Heck it is still in the box.
When I can set up a shop again I will set up one for wood and the other for metal and stuff.

Again fantastic job.

Well why not cover the hatch first with the stits fabric, shrink it, and then glass over the fabric... then it would have the exact same sag as the rest of the covered area around it,... the stits fabric won't add that much weight to the hatch, it will bond with the fiberglass layers anyways... and like tail weight is going to be an issue with the valach 170 up front.

I knew you were doing this someplace, I just stumbled on to it. Your making what looks like good time on it, it's not exactly a little plane. I like the pictures, never got to see many of your other one.

I'm sure there's people at "full scale event" who fly models - and even more of those who appreciate good models.

Who knows, someone might ask for a static model of something they fly - or used to fly.

The wire mounts and front legs have been installed. Based on how mine ground handled, very tipsy, I made this one with a 1" wider stance. That's not enough to be seen but should add just a bit more to the stability on the mains. A simple hardwood shim, noted by the arrows, is all it took.

The stabilizer tubes have been cut to length and fitted to the fuse. I will not epoxy them in place until I have the stabilizer built that way I can put them on to hold the tubes perfectly square. Next up, the stabilizer's

Robert, nice work...I like what you did for the front wire mounts. The stab looks good to. Did the motor show up yet?

The stab and ele are well on their way and will be done tonight. Tomorrow I can use them to set the tubes, then it is on to the bottom wing.

Well Ace, you're more efficient at building than a factory full of chinamen... you need to slow down or Jeff will maiden his before you do ... those EMHW kits build fast...

Nice workmanship, tidy shop... and great work ethics as well.
