It has been nearly seven hours and it is still sweating, I will continue the bake until it quits. What does sweating mean you ask? The plaster has cured enough to be somewhat hard to the touch, handle able. But it is not deep cured, it is very much like drywall mud in that it appears dry to the touch but it is still very wet inside. The plaster has the same grey hue and when one lays their hand on it it feel's tacky. That tacky is what I call sweat, right now it is sweating well enough that it actually feels wet and streaks when wiped.

Well, don't rush it. If its not ready don't use it. Everything on the build so far has been great!! It can wait...

Oh, I'm not rushing. I want it good and dry no matter if it takes overnight.

Just curious. I've been watching Merlyn Graves videos on YouTube learning how to do a lot of this stuff. He swears by Ultracal 30. But, it's probably 30 times more money too. Lol. I hope it turns out perfect for ya.

I will be using the UltraCal 30 to make the mold for the cowl on the Lion.
Will be my first experience with it, but from what I have seen it is great stuff.
Find a local supplier (pottery places) or you will pay more for shipping than the material.

I hear Ultracal 30 is good stuff but finding it is not so good, and mail order is out of the question.

That's a long way out of the way but, it may very well be worth the drive. Thanks!

Well the description of UltraCal 30 is gypsum cement... you can get from home depot "chemically set" joint compound, which is gypsum based... comes in 20, 40, 90, minute set times... I wonder how well that stuff would work... its a lot lighter than plaster.

I used it alot when I was in contruction. It allowed you to complete a small drywall job all in one day. There are 2 kinds, the one inthe green bagsts hard as a rock and is very hard to sand. The other comes in a blue bagand is lightweight and easy to sand.

Speaking of "hard as a rock", that "Fix-All" stuff doesn't sand either... i read an article on making forms for vacuum forming... they seal the surface pores of the former with thins CA, and then wet sand the surface to a smooth finish... could use that same technique with the lite weight joint compound.

I'm back at it. The fuel tanks are in but not the strap, still need to plumb the engine so they will need to be free. And the L/G have had springs installed which in my opinion is waaaay better than the kit supplied bungee cord.

My friend, it was the first build that brought the changes that not only I but you as well are benefitting from. But it is I that am enjoying the build where as you will enjoy the flights of the Bulldog I.

I started today with going backwards. I went and added another strip to the fin and rudder's perimeter. The kits finish is a bit to thin for me, and I did this on mine as well. It makes for a much more suited perimeter for sanding and covering, stronger also. While that dries I started the cap stripping of the bottom wings, also framed up the servo access hatch.

Other than sanding, this wing section is done.
