Bulldog build

Jeff, about your chosen color scheme, there's been a last minute change with the colors... Ace and I decided the Bulldog scheme is "out", its just too aggressive of a color scheme for that particular model type!... so the "Hello Kitty" scheme is in... sorry we didn't get with you on this, but we figured you wouldn't mind, having been so supportive on everything else that has been done to date... so now it will be "Bright Hot Pink" with the Hello Kitty character plastered all over the model .. should be received well at your flying club John M,

Hehe, nice skirt... had no idea the airline's used the Hello Kitty scheme, would look pretty nice on Jeff's Pitts
I was just pulling Jeff's leg... my sense of humor is more than just slightly unhinged ... trust me, I keep everyone on their toes when I'm over at the field... you can't take life too serious, or you'll be miserable your entire life.

I got at it early this morning, first up was to remove everything unnecessary within reason and clean the room. The removing and cleaning has taken a bit as well as making the stands for the cowl, pants, and wing servo plates. Here it is, everything is ready. I will take a break and being as it is already hot I am making a screened cover for the fan so to paint later into the evening. Next post will contain parts color on them.

Everything was ironed smooth then the second coat was applied. Next will be a 50/50 coat, 50 poly and 50 MEK. I like to call this the melt coat because it goes on real wet and really melts everything together.

And then the poly spray, something of color, woo hoo. I will give it a second coat in a bit and that will do it for the night. Tomorrow will come the sanding and not having used pinking tape it is in need of a lot. I won't do another one without at least perimeter tape.

This sucks, I am on the fourth coat of high fill primer. It is getting better but the lap is still visible, look's as though there is going to be some somewhat showing. But I can live with it as long as it look's good, neat and clean. With all this sanding and getting the glass part's prepped I doubt I will get any white on it today.

Everything is just about done, about an hour in the morning and I should be ready to spray white. The line's are not gone but the one's visible while sitting on it's gear are much cleaner.

Every once in a while this old dog learns a new trick. Some time back Stits told me I could use parchment paper to iron directly on the poly spray without causing harm. You know, those pesky little corner bubble's and the such. Well, I was ironing a couple of those down when I noticed the lap in the fabric had nearly disappeared. So onward with some tries and low and behold the heating apparently melds the outer lap into or flush with the poly spray. I have already done the tail surfaces, all of an hour it took. This method is a whole lot easier, as well as leaps and bounds a better finish.
Now, I am happy with the finish and will be much more comfortable going to color knowing it will look so much better.

Everything has a white hue, that's all that is needed to brighten the yellow. I will give it about two hours to cure well, then put the panels and cowl on, mark where the yellow goes, and late this evening I will spray the yellow.

Rob, sounds like your working things out with the lines in the primer. What is/are the benefits for using Pinking Tape? I'm not a builder unless you call arf's building... ( enter laughter and shaking of head ) Anyways, I feel very confident in your choices or suggestions for improvements especially if it helps to save time. Though, looks like your on a roll...KEEP ON TRUCKING!!

The pinking tape cover's all the laps, giving a nice finish to the eye. Right now if you changed your mind about the tapes, sorry, it is to late, it would have to be a recover. I have the line's ironed in pretty good. It's not perfect but good, if it were mine I would be happy with it, after all it is a semi scale model. I have everything ready for the yellow just waiting on the sun to set enough to cool off a bit, the yellow will get painted today.
