Hostetler 33% Gee Bee Z Plans Built
Anyone have one of these under construction? I am considering a scale project with a Zenoah GT80. Looks like a nice set of plans.
Thanks

RE: Hostetler 33% Gee Bee Z Plans Built
Jeb,
I know nothing of the Holister 33% Gee Bee Z. However, I have framed the 33% Z designed by Don Neill. This particular Gee Bee Z features a wing with one piece construction, something I like.
I have the article on this model written back in the late 80's or early 90's, I'd have to dig it up.
I'm not sure, but the glass and plans may still be available. You'll have to ask around.
I can honestly say it's a great model. This Link will bring up a Photo of Don's Z.
I provide graphicxs for many of the Gee Bee's including the Z, in many scales. I no longer make the gear, but it's available from, I believe, Century Jets?

Stay in touch on your project,

RE: Hostetler 33% Gee Bee Z Plans Built
After some research I have decided the Hostetler 33% Gee Bee Zee is the way to go. DLE 111 for the motor and (swallow hard) Sierra for the gear. 3 piece wing at 93" seems like a nice feature to me and fiberglass parts are available. This plane will get Sig Koverall and all latex finishes. I may wind up trying the Nelsons or Warbird Colors paints and clearcoats. I am in the process of gathering documentation for the build at this time. May wind up taking a vacation to Florida to visit Fantisy of Flight since they have one there.
Thinking about cutting my own kit, I think I could stay ahead of the assembly process!

I got sidetracked on other projects and have decided not to build this plane. I do have a fiberglass cowl and custom (hand) built landing gear that I am going to sell.
