Bernie.good to hear you now can fly your Waco with the feeling that your weight and balance is correct. I have a smoke system in my Waco.it is very good and just adds so much to the experiance of the plane. Remember you can use that spread sheet over and over again so don't toss it out.
Your Waco is so very nice. You did a GREAT job on it. Let me know how the first flight goes. Bernie let me tell you that the Waco will float in on landing so slow you may have to go around till you figure out the correct glid path to your field. But other than that she is just a big beautiful plane that will make you smile just by thinking of her. I think I have next weekend off from work. If so and the weather is good I'm going to take Miss Linney ( my Waco) out and fly here.

Hi Bernie,
Verry nice job on the covering, I think the Oratex is fine to work with .
I am glad that it works out with the CG, so as you say you can solve it with the batterys.
Your engine is aprox. 1 kG heavier so in comparison with the set up in my Waco with the accu's under the headrest and yours near the tail there is some similarity and it should be oke.
Where do you get that Excel sheet so I can control my Waco in the same manner you dit.

after a few days pause I made the installation of the landing lights. I used the Seoul Z-LED P4 from Lumitromix in germany.
What shell I say.....It hurts like hell, to look there in, I have now just an our later a little flicker in my eyes, but they are sucking a lot of
energy, 1000 mA at 3,8V and donĀ“t get hot after 3 minutes. The outer contour of the cover I have to cut to the final form, itĀ“s only a makeshift
The camera can not give it in real, because she regulates down.

That shows you the differences between individual planes. Your subject has one landing light and the 1987 YMF Classic (NC 14081) has lights on both sides (see picture).
I like the color scheme, Yellow with Blue trim.

I began with the cockpit, and IĀ“m glad, that I made it able take out, itĀ“s a big advantage.
The covering you can see inside is made of plastic leather, you know it certainly from some books, they are covered with it.
The center wood panel is made of plywood, covered with wood-foil from a car accessories shop.
The seat is too covered with plastic leather and filled with foam material.
The instruments are not scale, they are a compromise, I could not find the right ones....I can live with it.

Have yoy found already a good pilot figure for the Waco?

Yes I now, Axel's pilots are really expensive. If you can make one yourself, why not you safe a lot of money.
For the suspension, I used the same method as done by the Pitts
The problem was that if I touch the ground with one wheel first the spring with the axle forced crosswise in the wooden blok and get stuck a litle bit.
Now I can adjust the tension with more or less windings and the suspension is verry smooth and now independently.
Maybe not really a scale solution but it works fine now.

For me it is waiting for better weather to fly with the Waco, around zero is to cold for me.
The first thing I am going to make for the Waco is a litle balsa box were I can let the air presure hose in. I have to many difference in presure on the carb.
If I fly inverted the engine goes rich, after a search on the forum I found a topic about that box and how to make one, hopefuly the solution for this problem.

every day I work 10-11 hours. IĀ“m glad, when I can lay my legs in the evening on the desktop and do nothing!!!!!
Only thing I made in the past weeks was the windshield of the rear cockpit, and this triple, the third was finally good.
Now IĀ“m working on the front cockpit wind shield. ItĀ“s only simulated, with a covering made of leather, like the origin.
After christmas I have 12 days freetime, than I will work mor on the Waco. This week I recieved the paint colors etc. and
the decals are in work.

You making it realy nice Bernie with al the scale details.
I now how many time there go with to do it that way.
I have tried it in a moderate way on my Waco but at last, after a small year of building time it became a lot harder to hold on.

Your windshields are looking very good. Here are a few from a 1987 YMF Classic (NC 14081) to compare.
P1 Both wind shields from the right rear.
P2 Overhead view of the rear wind shield (I was standing on the lower wing).
P3 Front windshield and instrument panel.
P4 Rear wind shield from the front and side, note the slope seems a bit longer than your wind shield. (Owner in rear with passenger up front, getting ready to taxi).

Today I did made the tank covering of the upper wing tanks, itĀ“s made of 0,4mm plywood, fillered and sanded.
The filling fittings are made of beech wood and the air-hoses are 2mm welding wire. The rivets are imitated with small
white glue drops, and the mounting screw diameter is 3mm -1/3=9mm, thatĀ“s OK.
The plywood looks a bit anomalous , but I had only a dark grey filler.

Nice looking pictures Bernie it is comming to be a master piece when it is finished.
After I looked to the midsection I came to a question. The wing tubes that came with the kit are very thin aluminium. What do you think of them?
I have bought other ones with a thicker wall.
Also the fitting with the originals was very tight. The new one are a fraction less in diameter.

The main load is on the flying wires, and because of this are these tubes so thin. I have the confidence
to the construction of Peter Barth, I think, he knows, what he constructs, heĀ“s working in his main job
on the Eurofighter project.

I have just recently purchased a 1/3 Barth Waco with the Moki 215.
The model is covered and the wings are painted, the fuselage is still in primer.
Scanning through this extensive tread there is a lot of very good information and I am sure it will assist me with my Waco.
I will be sure to get some pictures up soon.
