Default Interesting Concept - GIANT Hots

One of the most fun planes I ever owned and still have is a Super Hots. Now that I fly giant gas planes nearly exclusively I've been contimplating the idea of blowing up a set of Hots plans to be able to handle a 50cc size gasoline engine. Does anybody have an idea of how you would go about determining what size would be appropriate. I'm thinking, if I just match the 85" wingspan common in most 50cc aerobats that should do it.

You wont have to go through that hassle of blowing them up. Dan Santich, the original designer developed a full line Hots sizes. Two big ones at 81" span and 91" span. Check out the site, they just sell the plans:

Heres an old article on the hots: http://www.fly-imaa.org/imaa/hfartic.../v11-4-14.html

Way back when, I also had a .60 size Super Hots that I dearly loved to fly. I enlarged the plans on a Xerox machine 150%, making it a "Hots ana Half" as I called it. I cut the wing length to 81" for IMAA purposes (it should have been longer, don't remember how much) I first flew it with a SuperTigre 3000. I later moved to an A&M Sachs 3.2, 50cc engine. This was without a doubt one of the best flying planes I ever owned and flew. Hovering in those days was never heard of, but this plane could all but do it. I could drag the tail wheel full length of the runway and never touch the mains. It was very stable, excellent flying. I still have the plans, as well as the Dan Santich version. I actually have a plane that is in the bones almost ready for covering. I'll get to it someday....PACO
