Default Hangar 9 P-47 1.50

Thinking of trying to stuff a Saito 170 radial in the Hangar 9 P-47. My concern is whether there is enough room for the engine and on-board glow without taking a hacksaw to the cowl. Believe the diameter of the Saito to be 8". Asked Horizon twice, no answer. Also, any other issues I'm not smart enough to ask?

The diameter is 198mm or 7.795".

I think you'll be disappointed with the performance of the P47 with this engine. I had an Evolution 26cc gasser in mine and went to the 35cc.

I have two of the Saito 170's. Abount the same power as a 120 single. Nice running and great sounding.

Thanks. Sounds like you know the plane and the engine. Which 4 stroke would you recommend that would fit in the cowl. I am not ready for gas yet. How about a twin? I want the sound of a 4 atroke, with plenty of power. Thinking some of the vibration can be kept down with multi-jugs. The dimension you gave is for the engine I believe. What is the cowl width?
