Hi Wiz,

Did you ever get a final response from TMMY? I have just emailed them tonight as I am considering this aircraft myself.

Please send me an email if you do not wish to post your response on the forum.

Thanks,

Yes the brakes are functional. I think it is an amazing price @ $1,500 dollars too!! Especially considering how complete it is.
Hi there Guys you know I have been reading this post and I am really susspect on the price..... I say this because to buy a 3.1 meter extra, even a glass "cheap one" you are talking at least $2500 USD I can't even buy one wholesale for that price and the company I work for imports model direct from the manufacturer. So how in the hell can you expect to buy a 4 meter model in Glass for only $1500 bucks???? when the 3 meter one will and does cost you $1840 without the interior or opening doors????

Sounds like either not possible and a load of bull or someone can't add up!!

Do the maths.

You are way off the mark!

Firstly, for $1500 you get the basic kit which is all white. The complete kit including all control horns, fuel tank, wheels etc and painted is $2500.00

The 3 metre one you are talking about I suspect is the Austars model at $1800+.Thats the price in Australia with all your high taxes added. The TMMY model is sold direct from this small company/factory with cheaper labour/material costs and does not include any taxes what so ever.

The Austars Cessna 182 is way over priced in my opinion, even to uk customers.

No prices on their web site?

So out of curiosity Steve does the all white non painted model come with the doors hinged and a cockpit interior etc etc or are there no doors cut out at all ?? and you never did ask Mike's question.

As to the Austar model yes I am comparing them as the original stament made regarding price and what you get was a just a little missleading but thankyou for clarifying what you get for your money.

As to value for money, I have to dissagree with you there you get a 3 meter model, that is painted in two pack paint, comes with all of the hardware required to fly the model, wheels tank etc and all this for only $1840 including taximport gst etc which for an overseas buyer doesn't pay....sounds pretty good to me!

So just to recap the model isn't painted and doesn't come with any hardware for $1500 plus import tax and shipping which from Malasia/Tialand (from memory) to say Australia would be in excess of $1200-$1500 due to the size and weight......hmmm

Do the sums. Austars looks pretty darn good!

you can read all about the one I'm building here

Hi Mike,
No I`m not t uk sales person, but have enquired extensively about this kit.Still trying to decide if I should get one.Price for freight is pretty hefty at $1100 for fed ex,but it is door to door.I could have it sent via sea freight at approx $600!

Yes,the doors come hinged and cockpit detail for the $1500,just not the complete hardware. You also get the lighting kit fully installed unlike the Austars model which from the manual on the website looks as if you just get the LEDS! i`m not knockin the Austars Cessna,I have a 152 and its a great model, just think the TMMY is more scale and better value. The only prob is the shipping costs which you are right would be around the $1200 mark!

The size sure is attractive. I like it.

But without a firm pricing breakdown on their web site, it really makes it difficult to make a decision.

So, , , , do all perspective buyers have to email TMMY, each and every time, to ask for their price schedule?

Different levels of kit, etc, , ,?

Anyways, , , , I just sent them an email to find out how much for what, , , and shipping to Toronto, Canada.

Mike Austar will be releasing a 4 meter Cessna with the correct dihederal, drop them an e-mail but you should be expecting a completely finished model to be up around the $3-4,000. mark but you do get a lot of model for your money!

Mike,
Its a very small "cottage industry" producing these type of kits. They are not mass produced and I had no probs obtaining the prices.Tommy will reply quickly to your email requests.

I like your build thread on the Austars 182,looks vey nice.

I`m gonna` sit on the fence for a while as I want to see details of the 4m version before I make up my mind which kit to go for.

Do you have a link for Austar? Can't seem to find them.

Still no reply from TMMY, , ,

When your considering spending BIG bucks, I'd expect nothing less than good communication. I guess they don't check their emails very often.

I'll venture to say that poor communication would be expected to be the norm with TMMY and that to me, makes purchasing & support risky.
Not much for dealer excuses, I'll spend my money elsewhere, where support is readily available.

It's a decent size and I like it, , , , just not ready to risk my money in a product with limited communications, hence they just lost a possible sale.

Just to let you fellows know.

It's been two weeks now and still no reply.
As I mentioned previously, consumers don't care much for excuses when they have their money on the line.

Definetly a high risk buy.

If you can't get in touch w/ Tommy, you can now buy the plane from Austar Models: http://www.austars-model.com/disprde...9240935518038#

Fortunately there are other manufactures of large scale Cessnas, both ARF's & scratch built.
For ARF's I suggest www.rcguys.com or www.austars-model.com/# or www.kmp.ca

For kits/plan built I strongly suggest www.hostetlersplans.com. I am building the Cessna 152 Aerobat & it is great!!!!

I wish someone would come up with a giant 185 or 206. I mean the 182 is a great plane, but I've got a thing for the Cessna workhorses. I've got the KMP (or ESM if you like) Cessna 185 an I love it to bits, but I wanna go bigger! The ESM 185 is more of a semi scale plane too compared to the TMMY 182. A 4m wingspan 206 on floats with that 6 cylinder Sawo engine would be nothing short of perfect in my world! Not that my wallet would approve though![:@]

Yeah, I'm aware of the Hostetler 206, I kinda ment a composite version like the TMMY 182. I might have to build a Hostetler 206 in the future, I'm just worried it may be taking on too much if you know what I mean, don't know if I'd ever finish it. Has anyone here built a Hostetler plane?

Cool, are you building the 152 from scratch, or is it a kit? If im ever to take on a 206 project, no doubt I'll get a precut kit[sm=thumbup.gif]
I know Austar will release a 98" ARF 206, but it's slightly small (I'd like a 120") and it's modelled after the new generation 206 wich I kinda don't like for some reason. Oh well, we'll see what happens. I just came in from flying the KMP Cessna 185, the thing handles like a dream!!
