RE: TMMY Scale Composites 35% scale Cessna
Hi Guys,
So Spider, I take it that's what I would look like with a goatie, right? LOL
Patti and Co do a really good job with these pilots. I was really excited when I was put in contact with her, knowing that she was also based in Australia.
The CNC machine and moulding technique works very well and this is really how scale replica "look a like" pilots is made possible.
I have to hand it to them as they did an awesome job on both my pilots, considering they had to make new items for both of them such as shoes, epaulettes with gold stripes, David Clark headset and all the other clothing on request.
Another custom request was to have my pilots hands arranged so that left was positioned in a grip for the control column and the right was to clasp the throttle.
In addition to this was Gold Wings badges which I provided a photo and were simply replicated in miniature using this same CAD process. Simply amazing stuff here.
Did I ever show any of you the shoes she replicated for my pilots? Okay so this may not be Cessna related but these are what both my pilots are wearing. We wear the same shoes!
If any of you are interested or considering one of the scale replica pilots just go for it, as once you see the amount of work that goes into them you will appreciate them being displayed in your Cessna/s.
Cheers,
Steve

I'm hoping some day I can scrape upenough bread to have a mold of my head done.
For now I'll have to just trust you to fly my plane.
Probably a better pilot than me anyway.
Also I'm getting a little old now so a Steve pilot figure probably looks better than a Dan pilot anyway. lol
Cheers.
PS. My pilot is wearing your shoes (in black)and headphones too.

Who does, Mario?lol
Get in touch with Katherine by email. [email protected]
She is very nice. It only took a couple weeks to get these from her.
Remember their time is 14 hours ahead of us so depending when you send the email you might hear back the next day.
They were going through some issues back when you contacted them but now the daughter (Katherine, the mother is Patti) has gotten into the business and they are making a good comeback.
Katherine is taking care of the orders, she told me it's still kind of just a hobby now, not a full fledged business, but they are still producing pretty good.
We don't want to overwhelm them and have them get discouraged and give it all up, so be patient with her and she will make you some amazing pilots.
Tell her you spoke to Dan from USA with the 1/3 civillian pilots.

Hi Style Fly;
Just jumping over from the 185 thread. Don't know if this helps or not but I have a 50 ounce tank in the 185 with a 3W 212 b4.
I probably fill to 48 onces and flight time of 10 minutes right now. I have well over half tank left.
Engine is still breaking in and thursty.
If you can't get a 50 ounce in, the 40 ounce may be ok if you are using the DA 150 sized engine.
As you mentioned to check with the fellows that are flying the 182 with a 150 to see what there fuel burn is.
Regards
Randy

On the pilot makers, (properlittlepeople.com) they had so many problems with hackers crashing their website in the beginning that they just gave up on it and left it very simple in the end.
It was either spend all their time on a website, with no time left for pilot making or leave the website alone and concentrate on pilot making. I like the second option they chose.
For orders, just contact [email protected] , tell her you're a friend of Dan from USA, I told her you and Mario might contact her for pilots.
Let her know what you're looking for and she will tell you what she has and can email pics to you if you want.
They can also make a mold of your head if you want a pilot that looks just like you.
That will probably take longer but would be unbelievable in the end and worth the wait.
I think the mold process is several hundred dollars extra, but once they have it in there program they can make any scale size head of you and as many as you want, you only have to pay for the design part once.
I just got what they had in stock for a faster cheaper option. I told her what clothes I was interested in and she made them. The shoes they had in stock already and they painted them to match the clothes.
They even made a pattern for the baseball cap I wanted so now they have a pattern for caps ready to go.
As for your planes weight,
In the AMA there are two categories for non-turbine powered LARGE MODEL AIRPLANES (LMA).
LMA-1 are all non-turbine powered model airplanes weighing 55 pounds (25
kilograms) to 77.2 pounds (35 kilograms), with fuel, ready to fly.
LMA-2 are all non-turbine powered model airplanes weighing 77.3 pounds (35
kilogram) to 125 pounds (56.7 kilogram) with fuel, ready to fly.
So if a plane weighs more than 77.2 pounds then it can fly in the LMA-2 category and weigh up to 125 pounds.
I'm pretty sure you can keep yours in the LMA-1 category.
Also, I haven't gotten to the tank step yet, but like Randy said, he has half a tank left after a 10 minute flight. I think you'll be fine even if you use a 40oz.

RE: TMMY Scale Composites 35% scale Cessna
Hi Guys,
I noticed you were discussing the situation with the fuel tank.
I am running the stock 1500CC Dubro tank that Tommy provided me with the kit. I would say that I have one of the original engine mounts and there is no problem fitting this tank inside it.
With the DA150 I am getting very generous flight times of up to 18 minutes. I usually only fly up to 10 minutes at a time and still have a fair amount of fuel remaining.
I would not think there is huge difference in flight time between these two fuel tanks.
Steve

Super Mario's bird has a 50oz tank - that's what I put in it when I built it

Got the elevator servo installed and the linkage finished.
Also the trim tab linkage.
Maybe by the time I'm finished with the airframe the engine will finally be available!

I used to build engines for HPD (Honda Performance Development) for the Indy Car series so that experience now goes toward model building. lol
I saw the washer trick on a build thread a while ago so I know these threads help people. Thats why I'm posting, paying it forward.
The guy called it the obligatory safety washer. It's sort of expected on giant planes and if you have a plane inspected for AMA waiver they would probably want to see that sort of stuff.
I started using that when I built the 50% Edge.
On the lights, I might hook a reciever controlled switch to turn on the nav lights and another for the landing lights.
I saw someone with strobes on the wing tips like the real planes have, I like that idea but have to look into where he got them from.
