Yes style fly,

I finished up adding about 2kg of weight due to some inner structure reinforcing at the back of the fuse also because i did re-paint my Cessna (the original paint wasn't up to my standard) being my self by profession a vehicle spray painter.

didn't you check your CG before flight?? it is suppose to be @ approx 175mm to 180mm back of the leading edge. i made a home made cg checker my self.

regards

Martin. [img][/img]

Hey Mifsudm , great CG stand Yes I did check the CG and it lifted fine (when It rose up it did not tilt) but the test pilot suggested it could use a bit more nose weight... I too added re-enforcement to the fuse interior as well as repainted the empennage- so it became more tail heavy

Hey Martin, how did you strip all the paint off to repaint it? I am wondering if I should get mine unpainted and get an auto painter to do it.

Hi All;

Just back in from a few days away and got caught up on the 182 thread.

First up, congratulations to stlye fly and George with your maiden flights, a great sense of accomplishment and of course always nice to get the maiden behind you.

George, great pics from “Nallâ€, I really wish I could have made it this year and joined you fellows with my 185 .
I’ll give you a call when you return home re the lighting system on your 182.

Strut Attachment Point

Re the wing lift strut attachment point at the fuse.
You are definitely correct it certainly needs something to secure it firmly in place. Either blind nut or threaded insert.
Did Tommy use a threaded insert?

The only mod I will be making to the 185 in this area are the struts themselves. I don’t know if you 182 folks have experienced the same problem but at low RPM the wing strut vibrates. Once the RPM is increased the transfer of vibration decreases.
I’m hoping the fix will be moving to an aluminum air foiled strut providing the weight is not that much.

Split Cowling

Re the cowling, it is certainly nice to have a split cowling or access to the upper portion of the engine compartment especially if you have engine baffling. Interesting with his modified cowling arrangement for the 182.

Painting the Model

Hi Parrot Girl, there are a lot of advantages receiving the model in primer gray as I found with my 185.
Just a thought, there were approx. 18 separate pieces in total with my model, not hard to paint but did require some set up on how to hold all the pieces.
If you go this route I can send you a number of pics on the methods I used.

Have fun with your 182’s, they all look great.

Best regards
Randy

Hey guys, just been looking at the nice pic's of your 35% Cessna's and notice that they all seem to sit way to low on the rear. Do you guys have trouble when landing as wouldn't you be almost scraping the rear on the ground to keep the nose wheel from striking first? I have this same issue with my 27% and have shortened the front srut to avoid this happening. I think on one of my other posts I mentioned the very unscale look of the wheel pants and wheels as the pant looks to deep and the wheels to large. See photo's of the fullsize that I sent Parrot girl. Has anybody taken that up with Tommy or do you guys think there is no issue. I see in talking with him that he is not only adding the split cowl but adding more rivet detail and more slope to the rear window.

Nice aircraft guys.

Kosty.

Well with Mario's cessna his axels need to be changed- he has had many , many landings so they bent in some making the tail drop -and he has the thinner main gear that has bent out alittle- agian he has A-LOT of flights onhis cessna-He may hold the flight recored-(Tommy switch to a thicker metal since) on the Blue cessna it has one flight and as you see in the photos it has a higher stance with the tail higher off the ground- Now if you look at photos of real 182's and look at the nose gear and the sping arm and see it just touches the bottom of the cowl-I tried to match mine up just so- any higer and it would be in the cowl - so you only have so much to play with (unless you use a smaller nose wheel)-again look at a full scale 182 and it has some slight tail drop- Also Mario has not had any tail scrapes on landings........

Yeah that's cool. Composite landing gear solves the problem. Have a look at my post #1515 for the correct stance of a unladen 182. I have many such photo's showing similar aircraft stance and the pant to wheel aspect. The only reason I've made the comment is I will ask Tommy to correct this when he makes my 35% aircraft as the 27% is closer to being correct.

Once again nice aircraft guys.

Kosty.

Sorry, I forgot to reply.

That sounds cool!
I don't think the guys at my club would protest if I break the "one guest at a time" rule. lol
Especially if they see those two big Cessna's looking so fine!

Thank you for your answer!

What is the take-off weight for your Cessna?

Sergey.
