Hey guys I got the Floats for the 25% Cub and I started puting them togeather and I found out I got 2 fron Cross Bracesand they are sopoused to be one front and one for the rear so the one for the rear the holes wont line up,,I called horizo couldnt get anybody there,, I think I could just install them until I see the holes or 1/2 the holse you see and redrill them right???

This this happen to all of the kits or it's juts my luck I got a dumb a** packing my staff[:@]?

Will it be strong redrilling the holes or should I just try to get a rear cross brace replacement?
Can you post a picture of the parts for us to look at and make a better educated assessment?

I ended up drilling them but any of the messurements on the manual for the any of the cross wires line up so the thing it's built but I'm not sure if it is stright or not,,I guess I'll find out once I get it on the water and see how it tracks!!!!!

Horizon said they will be sending me a replacement rear brace I could take everything out and rebuild it with the right brace but man putting this thing togeather was harder thn buildign a plane, hehehe

In regards to: charrua
I bought a used in great shape 73" J3 [not sure of the brand name] maybe BUSA because the wing is one solid piece.
I am wondering if the Motor I ordered for it will do as well or even close to yours.
It's a .72 siato 4 stroke, it will be here in a week and hopefully it will fly
I am not planning plontoons however.

a 73'' Cub or it's a clipped wing or just a 40 size so the .72 should be fine.

Thanks for the speedy reply, I was afraid of being too conservative with Horse power, I didn't want a rocket but I wanted a high quality good sounding motor to do scale like flying.
It is NOT a clipped wing, 73" span and the usual "ROUNDED" corners of a non clipped. It could be an older discontinued Gruapner , I will find out soon from the previous owner.

~ 73" wingspan? Is it maybe the Sig 1/6 kit? They're still around. Talk about an ancient design; if my memories' correct, that Sig kit is based on the old Berkley Models ff J-3 from the late 40s! I built one back in the 1970s. I sure did get tired of gluing sticks together, but it flew great w/ an OS 25.

I will have to post pictures of it, including it's innards, I saw a Graups that had the classic ribbing and solid wing in here someehere.

Well, being the old ,fat, sceinile fart that I am, I measured it again and what was I on!!! the last time I measured it?;;,
Seems as though I screwed that up too, this time I got 80" from tip 2 tip, anyway, the Siato 70 4 stroke has plenty of poop and it has been flying real well. I got help at first to eliminate crashes ground loops and all that beginner humdrum stuff and patients paid off with lessons, lost count on how many flights I have had, with few indescreat mishaps, yes the plane is still in one peice and well over it's 100th flight.
It handles slowly and forgiving in the air, Landings have to be with power [dirty flying during landing is a no no], takeoffs on pavement are simple once you learn to anticipate right rudder to aviod looping.
I love the GRASS landings with the oversized 5-1/2" weels I put on it. It is actually easier to land and take off in the grass than it is to on pavement [no ground loops]. Accept rememer that elevator flap UP just as you touch down with a boost of power to aviod nose overs. The lessons paid off, these things require input and don't fly themselves but am loving the challenges and lessons it has taught me on tail dragger bush flying.

Hello All,

My H9-Cub had maiden its first flight last weekend, and I must say that I was delighted and impressed with its flight! This big bird fitted and balanced with a Zenoah 20ei, what a perfect match.

The weather; some wind, approximately 4-to-5 knots, gusting higher at times, however, the Cub flew with no heavy inputs on my end, just make sure you switch to a mix of Aileron/Rudder to your radio, and you turns will be scale.

I recommend this purchase to anyone who has been eyeing with hesitations! I posted a photo of the bird, and you’ll find that Hanger 9 has another awesome notch to its flight lines.

Bob,
Maine Flyer

Hi Bob,

I have over 100 flights on my Cub now, and it's a great flyer! Might I suggest that you try no mixing on aileron/rudder, and learn to become proficient doing it "manually" with the sticks? With a little bit of practice you'll find it's quite easy, and you'll become a better pilot overall!

Where is Monmouth? I live in the Boston area, but I'm a UMO grad!

I got my H9 J3 25% and posted a review on build up in RCUniverse. I installed a CRRC Pro GF26i with a 18X6 Zohr. Really a nice flying plane. At its first outing I won the best ARF Award with it. I am really proud of this airplane and it is so realistic in the air. Hanger 9 made one really fine kit, my kit is the 106" wingspan model. Here are a few pics:

My Two Brothers live in Maine, Quite familiar with it. GREAT looking Cub you have, almost looks like you waxed and buffed it.

Tuff looking and great looking plane, nice. I'm jealous, Mine looks like a left over relic from a WWII battle but I have a ton of flights on it, several misshaps and the plane is still structurally sound, tuff animals these piper types are.

Good Afternoon
I have a right hand wing panel that my Weenier Dog found after chewing into the box. The wing tip has damage,Minor, some covering would do the job. But the aileron was eaten. I would be more than happy to send it to someone that cold use it for a replacement. I would hate to just throw it away. if someone could use it let me know and I'll send it to you.

Mine is coming along nicely now. I made lots of little improvements along the line to improve structural integrity, improve finishing, and sort out quality control issues. In the end I think it is going to be a nice model and we are looking forward to the maiden flight. Will post pictures when done.

What all did youdo to improve the quality control issues?
Is that a 36 cc Saito?
Looks good! Where did you get your pilot?

Cheerz,

I love the plane, but am very disapointed with the landing gear. The holes where all the bolts go through at the pivot points are really starting to egg out bad. They needed to use clevis pins and e-clips for the pivot points like Robart does.[X(]
