New Bellancа Decatlon 25% (Kit Big-Scale-Fly)
Plane Bellanca is very popular among modellers. Various versions and under various motors are issued by many firms. I, as well as many among my acquaintances in club modeller, have bought a whale from firm Exclusiw Modellbau. Experience of its assemblage has guided me at thought, that the whale though is good on many parametres, but all is already morally obsolete. Having consulted to my partner, we have decided to create a new design of this popular plane in three versions under motors accordingly 45-100-150см3. Also under my request one more exclusive - under the motor under the motor 400см3 on the scale of 45 %. The first model from the planned series is At the moment ready. I also wish to tell about it a little...
Our purpose at design designing was reduced to simplicity of assemblage, to achievement of the maximum rigidity at the minimum weight of a design. From mechanisation - in all variants obligatory presence of flaps and the mechanism for towage of gliders. Other requirements are standard for models of this class.
All has begun with drawings... Each knot was thought over and fulfilled, so our future plane step by step appeared. Certainly experience of assemblage of similar planes very much was useful, but besides it themes at various forums have been read and studied many.
Then all details have been spread out for sharp and transferred our partner which cut the first test complete set.
Cutting is executed by our partner very qualitatively and accurately. It certainly pleases! A unique error - a thickness of a material from which our partner cut this complete set. To my regret the thickness on plywood instead of ordered 5мм makes 5,45мм. The partner is advised and on following complete sets of it will not repeat any more. Assured what even this annoying fact will not affect an end result - I have begun assemblage.
In the beginning I have checked up all details on compatibility, yes so have taken a great interest, that have collected almost a half-fuselage... Having stopped, I have disassembled the received design and have started to do step-by-step photos of this assemblage.
In the beginning power panels and already to them a forward frame have been pasted. Thanks to our technology with big connections the design very much easily is positioned and sticks together.
Further the bottom semiframes and form-building plates of the air channel are pasted. After these plates were pasted on them the covering is pasted balsa, it actually and finishes this design (Its size 140 х105 mm). While assemblage only elements of a nasal part of a fuselage is made. Then on a building berth definitive assemblage of a fuselage will be made.
It is necessary to note especially reasonableness of many knots of this plane. It allows not only to make exact assemblage, but also in a consequence without problems to establish all onboard equipment.
The insert of frames, thanking all that to connections, without problems allows to rise it under the set corner, that considerably simplifies assemblage. Even at this stage of assemblage I have noticed a considerable difference between collected by me Bellanca from Exclusiw Modellbau and our complete set. Rigidity of a design repeatedly is more, at that weight. It only pleases!
The insert of the third and fourth frames became end of work of today. Between them two plates with big колличеством apertures are pasted. At first sight it is difficult to understand for what they are made... Actually in a design the place of fastening of batteries of an onboard food is provided. It is made deliberately - first for position of the centre of gravity, secondly for convenience of operation. Also these plates tightly connect two frames, precisely positioning them in a design.
I wish to run a little more forward and to tell, that practically all landing places are prepared both for steering machines, and for other onboard elements...

Well, here also there have passed the days off... It is a little rest and many flights. With huge desire I undertook the further assemblage.
To collect a fuselage it the pleasure for me is simple. Has not done without incidents... Somehow we have passed at check of details during transfer to cutting absence on an apportion of the second frame!! All is, and this frame is not present... I long searched for it in a box and at myself on the house. Then only has decided to check up an apportion. Long we laughed from the bottom of the heart on this fact!! It was necessary to me to take a fret saw and to cut this unfortunate frame handles. Yes, on long we will remember this first our cutting!
In the rest all has developed as well as possible. I in the beginning have collected a design without glue. Did not do it better so-as to assort it has appeared more difficult because of fear to break a detail. The matter is that all is absolute шиповые connections are very densely adjusted to each other and details with the big work are taken out back.
In advance, that then without problems to put on the places steering machines, I have drilled fixing apertures in corresponding details. Then all has missed the mark with glue and has collected, that is called "on is dead".
The right half of power covering, the left half... So step by step all gathers in a uniform design.
Rigidity of the fuselage collected under this scheme, with application big колличества шиповых connections above any praises. It is absolutely stable and strong design it is put specially in pawn in the project so-as we provided what exactly this plane becomes for many modelers to the first, on the present by the big model! And as well as положену to the trainer, in it are put in pawn a little big characteristics.
On the top basis of the third frame the plate from 6мм plywood is fixed. In it an aperture for fastening of the towing device. On a frame the place for the steering machine is already provided. And as without it, after all not only for pilotage and flights this model is created. On all European platforms it is the real working horsy on an inhaling of gliders.
Боковины models are cut out from balsa. Now I have made it hands, and in serial complete sets these details will be already ready. It in general will remove all problems!
In a forward frame on all its perimetre six grooves for fastening of eyes for cowl installation are located. They are deliberately made sticking out of the general dimension that at their processing after склейки they in accuracy have repeated the fuselage form.
Actually assemblage of this model is accessible modelers already having sufficient experience of assemblage. Certainly we tried to simplify and make all qualitatively! But we cannot put experience in a box with details...
As I already wrote in one of posts - quality фрезеровки and high level of prepreparation of details is at very high level. I practically - also do not adjust nothing, only glutinous seams. I have been very surprised and certainly pleased, when already towards the end of my working day I have decided to check up compatibility of details forming the window form. Amazingly - has simply inserted also ALL!! I even close up have removed this place to pay to this attention. Pleases, very much pleases, that our purpose on achievement of the greatest possible quality of our sets is already close...

Thanks for interest to this theme... In general this project provides many types of models on the scale of 25 – 33 - 45 %. Already in model work: Waco, Stermann PT 17,Pitts S-12..

The flap form is chosen for this model specially. In our opinion it will allow in the big degree its work on small speeds.
After drying bent balsa, she acts in film from a pipe. Now it is necessary to chamfer edge balsa that at pasting to receive as much as possible thin edging. A plane and a skin - the best tool for this operation.
For pasting of such surfaces I use a thick plate balsa. In it by means of needles we pin a detail.
Подкос a wing fastens for an eye which is made of a composit plate. For strengthening of a place of fastening it is necessary to paste plywood inserts. And already through them, by means of screws M3 to fix a detail.
After that it is possible to "sew up" the bottom part covered balsa.
