I HAD DOWNLOADED THE MANUAL. THE MOTOR BOX SLIDES AND THE PROP BACK WASHER SHOULD BE 10 INCHES FROM THE FIREWALL. THE MOTOR SHOULD BE ABLE TO BE BOLTED DIRECTLY TO THE FIREWALL WITHOUT STAND-OFFS...GOOD LUCK ...BOB ZAR

You need not worry about the engine mounting distance. The firewall is movable - just mount your engine and slide the firewall forward or backward until you're satisfied. I'm placing a DA 85 on mine one of these days - I have a few bigger fish to fry

Using a B&B cup mount, (not the flat plate mount) bolt the cowl in place, set the fuselage on it's tail, put the engine in the cowl and adjust the position of the sliding box so the prop hub is about 1/2" outside the cowl.
Epoxy the box in place and you're done.

Has anyone out there built and flown one of these, or v.1.0, with a Saito 3.25 or 4.50 radial?? If so, how did it work out?? Were the engines so heavy, particularly the 4.50, that tail-ballast was required? Does the 3.25 have sufficient power?? Anything else??
Just wondering. It is a nice-looking plane and seems to be perfectly suited to a radial.
Thanks.

Had a questions about the zenoah 62, First the two pins on prop hub, should i leave those in place and drill the prop to fit them or pull them out. If best to leave them in place is there a jig for this job.

I just got a GreenModels 97" here in Oz...putting an OS FR5-300 radial in it. Will fit it as far back as possible to reduce amount of tail weight needed. Anybody flown theirs yet, who can comment on the specified CG being good or not please?

JP928:
Plan to put the rudder servo along with both elevator servos at the tail and maybe a pair of batteries as far back as you can reach!
The OS 5 cylinder weighs 94 oz. and the G-62 weighs 81 ounces, which is not that much of a difference anyway.
My Gee Bee balanced fine with a G-62 and a relocated battery.

Thanks for that news Dick! My model has elevator and rudder servos right at the back already. I also have a 9Ah single cell to light the plugs - thats over 4oz, so I will put that as far back as I can. Planning on a large 6V rx battery at rear of wing saddle. How far out of main fuse if your engine mount box? IIRC the manual says have prop driver 9" from firewall....but the radial is only 6.15" from rear to prop driver, so I was planning on fitting it as far back as I can, and maybe relieving rear of cowl to suit - any comments please? How did the specified CG work for you in flight please?

I have a G 62 in mine, stock muffler, spring starter, Zinger 24/8 prop.. excellent flying plane, good speed and slows to a crawl for landing. I couldn't be happier[sm=thumbup.gif]

Hey mogman, was wondering what rpms you are turning with that prop. Iam running a stock 62 with a slimline smoke muffler, and Vess 22B prop and getting around 7200-7400 rpms.

I'm getting 7200, and it's a new engine, has maybe 2 hours on it.
Cheers, Dave.
