I have my kit now and am gathering the bits to start building.
I had earmarked a DLE35RA engine for the plane but that engine had to go into another plane. I have an MVVS30cc with Pitts muffler looking for a home. The Cessna seems to be commonly flown on 30cc class engines. Do you reckon the MVVS30 is a good option?

My Cessna is coming along well. I also bought the lights from Electro Dynamics and found people there both communicative and extremely helpful.
I ended up buying the "complete set" because I wanted control over all the lights, or the ability to switch on or off all the lights, rather than the default of having the Nav lights come on when the receiver switch is turned on.
It was only after I started playing with the lights that I discovered the 3-stage switch assumes the first output to go active upon getting power from the battery, meaning the red/green lights and the tail group lights would always be on.
A solution to that would have been a second switch and due to the high postage cost and my impatience getting the plane flying, I decided not to proceed with that.
The outcome was that I have an Rcexl kill switch controlling the power to the lighting system. The kill switch connects to channel 9 in the receiver and the nav lights controller connects to channel 10.
The sequence now is this:
Upon powering on the plane, all lights are off.
Flip an assigned switch on the Tx and the red/green tip lights plus the tail group comes on
A 3-position switch on the Tx then turns on the strobes in the middle position and the landing lights in the top position.
My next plan will be to come up with a mixer that automatically turns on landing lights when the flaps are extended
Here are a couple of short videos of the plane with the lights on:

On another note, yesterday we had a small fly-in at our new field. Several select guests were invited so we had some 30 pilots flying.
Even though the wind was strong (up to 20Kts) it didn't stop the flying and we all had a ball!
Our new club is a small but growing one with membership tightly controlled to let in active modellers / pilots only. We have chosen this way to avoid the politicking that plagues other clubs, often caused by members who have little interest in actively advancing and promoting the flying and building of model planes but see the clubs as an outlet for their desires for power games and control.
The new field is coming along great with a 170m long and 25m wide runway with no obstructions or other limitations. The land owner was even kind enough to spend a day with his bobcat levelling and smoothing the runway.
Later this year, we hope to run several non-competitive events or fly-ins to raise some needed funds for facilities.

If you also purchased the ElectroDynamics DR-117RC control unit, this unit will allow you to turn the landing lights on and off as flaps are raised and lowered. It works great on mine.

G'day Joe,
The controller I have is EDR-117-RCP3
What seems to happen is that upon switching it on and applying a servo signal, output one is active (these are the red/green/tail group lights)
Switch position in the middle turns on out put two and so on
Maybe your controller is a different one?

Apalsson, Your lights look great. She is going to be beautiful in the air. I also have some of the ED lights, and they are my favorites. Very bright and they have a wide viewing angle. I can appreciate the way you guys filter the members at your club. That is one great approach that a lot of other clubs should employ. Enjoy models/aviation, and keep the loud mouth trouble making riff raff OUT. Kudos to you and your club!

There is a very good description of this on page 15 or 16 of this thread. What I did was drill the struts as described in the manual, then slid the fairings onto the struts and bolted them on.
I then made sure the fairings were a good fit to both sides.
Once I was happy with the fit, I removed the struts and put a few dabs on 5-min epoxy / micro ballons into the fairings where they met the struts. Then bolted the struts back on with the fairings taped into place to make sure they had the right fit.
I didn't put a lot, just enough to lock them into place until the epoxy mix set.
Once I had done this, the rest was easy. I filled up the fairings in two or three portions until I was satisfied they wouldn't deform anymore. Each time bolted them back onto the plane and held in place with tape.
This sounds a lot more complicated than it is to do. It ended up with a nearly 100% fit

The epoxy won't stick to wax paper, and the paper peels off easily after the epoxy sets.
The ends of each strut now conform perfectly to both the wings and the fuselage.

Greetings all - I just aquired a H9 C-182 which will need some TLC. There are some missing parts that I would like to buy should anyone have the following:
- seats
- Wing Struts and fairings
- Wing Antennas
- Wheel Pants (all 3)
- Sierra nose strut
Anyone's help and feedback is MUCH appreciated. Thanks!

Congrats on your acquisition. You will find this airplane a joy to build and fly as well. I recommend you call Darrel Tenny at Seirra Giant Scale for a nose strut. A must have. Darrell's number is 440-476-4885.

Thanks so much RonTins for those kind words - I am really looking forward to getting this plane in the air. I plan on getting the Seirra nose struts as I don't think the Robarts are as strong or of the same quality. My real challenge is finding the parts listed on my post #1237. If yo know of anyone with these parts. please steer them my way... Thanks again

Fiberglass Specialties sells wheelpants by either the shape or size http://www.fiberglassspecialtiesinc.com/catalog.htm
The wing struts may be the toughest things to obtain. Looks like you may need to make your own set.

Guy's, H9 is selling this airframe again, and should have any part your looking for. Your right about the Sierra Strut. I have one on my 182, and the quality is tops and puts the Robart to shame.
Edit: Well, it looks like its disappeared off the Horizon site again. I know they brought it back a while back, so I guess it's discontinued again?

I just checked the Horizon website AGAIN.
The only parts Horizon is currently carrying is the vertical fin, the rear hatch, the main landing gear and the instrument panel decal set.
There is no mention of any other parts in stock. If someone found some other parts please let us all know ! Maybe at another website besides Horizon Hobby ?

Yeah, I'm very sorry about that. I was on their site less than 2 months ago and they were selling the 182 again, and even 6/8 months ago it was on there. I know they brought it back for the second time, but I don't remember the timeline obviously. I was really suprised that it was gone again for the second time, and disappointed, because I was going to order a spare set of wheelpants. I'm glad I bought a spare cowling when I did now. I know FS sells them, but I didn't want to have to spray them. Maybe they are updating it, and going to bring it back again. It's way way to nice of a model for them not to be selling. Mine is one of the best flying GS civilian airframes I have. I WISH they would do a GS Cessna 150/152 Aerobat like the little electric 250 size they have. That would be the icing on the cake. I do have the little one, and it flies like a dream, its also pretty dang scale for the size of it. Good luck guys in finding the parts you need. I will keep my eyes open for parts as well. Is there anything in particular that you guys are looking for?
