1/4 scale Cub servos?
I just got a 1/4 scale Bud Nosen Cub. I will be needing 6 servos for this thing. 1-Throtle, 2-ailerons, 2-elevator, 1-rudder. Can I use standard Futaba S3003 servos for the control surface. I do not mind getting better servos but I do not want to spend a small ransom for them.
Thanks, Andrew
Thanks, Andrew

Depends on the instructions recommendations on servo torque strength ... for this type non-acrobatic probably Futaba S9001 coreless servos would do the job easily.. Maybe a bit of overkill, but certainly functional.

RE: 1/4 scale Cub servos?
Hey Andrew,
The big Cub will fly fine with regular servos, but with the very large control surfaces, the airloads will put a good strain on them. If you do any loops, rolls etc, or need to pull up after a steep descent, they could be at their limits. For the small extra bit of money, the Futaba 3010 has 72/90 oz of torque at 4.8 and 6 volts. And for 20$ each at tower right now. They are standard size so not too much work putting them in. I used them in my BUSA 1/4 scale Cub. Any other stronger than std servo will give you a greater safety margin and better performance. Hope to have it done in a week or two....putting in the windows and windscreen tonight.
Good Luck, Will

Hi Andrew either the 3010's or the Hitec 645's but you can use one of the regular servos for the throttle. I have a balsa usa 1/4 cub that im just finishing up and used both types.... Good luck Carl
