I too just finished the Cessna 182. Changed a few thing, but not many. Detailed out the instrument panel, and carpeted the floor. Have a Futaba 2.4 7C w/ 645 hitecs on 5 cells, Fuji 50 EFI, XOAR 20x10 and a Tru-turn. Around 28 lbs. Glenn McIntosh.

Nice job Glenn, how does the nose gear oleo look,do you think it is strong enough? Also what is the width of the cowl near the front?I'm wondering if a Saito 300 twin would fit in there.

G McIntosh,

Plane looks good. Do you have any pics of the center join just behind the windows and how that comes apart for transportation.

Hi all, just finished my ASM Cessna. Used Hitec 5645's and 645's servos throughout, a 50cc DL engine with Pitts muffler.

I just had a look at the CG point and found my plane very tail heavy. Has anyone found the same issue. I am having to add over 1.5kg of weight to the nose to fix this problem, and all of my installation so far has been placed forward in the fueselage.

Murray

roly1129,

How does the center section come apart for transportation? I assume the elevator and rudder servos are in the rear of the fuse and all that needs to be hooked up is the wiring. What was the shipping charge on this plane?

4 allen style bolts hold both halves together, accessed through the side door. Assumption is correct, I have used extensions to put the connections handy, where the halves join.

How about the stab, does it slide on a tube and bolt on? What type of hinges are supplied? This plane is really looking good for a fall project.

Wow, just seen this thread. Very nice looking a/c. I have been wanting a larger cessna to replace my cmp 140 sized one and looks as if this one is it. Do the wings have clear lenses on the tips for lights? Is there a way to cover the seam on the vert. stab? Are the graphics painted on really thick? If I got one, I would want to sand and re-paint if possible. It looks like you probably could. That paint job is been done toooooo much on cessnas and although it still looks great, I would want something more modern.

I am repainting mine. The black striping that you see is actaully some sort of tape that can easily be removed. I am using an epoxy/microballon mixture to cover up the seam, to be followed by some sanding.
Unlike the CMP kit, there is no provision for the clear nav light lenses on the wing.
I am using a color scheme I found on Airliners..net; have the interior kit and am ordering a set of nav/landing and flashing beacon lights. Using an XYZ engine, 30cc/ Very fun and exciting just to even work on it.

Thanks.
This looks like a very nice project to work on this winter for me. I am probably going to sell my other cessna to help fund this new one even though my cmp cessna flys awesome.

You'll like this model !!!

I watched Glenn McIntosh fly his big Cessna. It was hard to discern it from the full sized version.

I think I will like this model!
I really like my Cmp 140 sized one and I was a bit sceptical when I purchased it from that company and after it was finished it was very heavy. But when I flew it for the first time, I was very suprised how well it floated around and how forgiving it was. I have some very acrobatic planes and some fast planes in my hanger but I wanted something that I could fly that was forgiving and stress free - something other than a typical J-3 cub. It was designed for a 60 to 90 glow engine and I put a 120 tt pro in it. It will sustain effortless knife edge down the runway and hover for a bit before falling out. Even though that isn't flying scale - like, it is still very fun. Most of the time I fly it slow, low and practice scale, rudder coordinated turns, figure 8s and touch and goes. Really fun! I will not like to sell it but that has to be sold to help fund this big one.
Here is a video of it flying. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fR1RV9qL59k

How strong is the font gear on this new plane? Why is it that most of the arfs out there have weak gear? They spend tons of time on the design of these things but none on the gear. I have to change out the stock gear on my CMP cessna to a stronger Fults gear this winter - and all of the arfs that I have purchased in the last two years have had to have the gear replaced on them and or the blocks re-inforced. Not from landing hard, but just because they are weak to begin with!

The front nose gear on the ASM Cessna is a Robart style oleo strut, good and strong for this aircraft. Glenn
