We do have a tendency to put way more engine in our models then the plane really needs. A friend of mine in Italy kept after me about that. So to prove him wrong I put one of my RCGF v2 20cc engines swinging an 18x8 prop into a new 96" span Super Decathlon that we are importing. Much to my surprise the plane flew very scale with that little engine. With the 18x8 prop the engine was unloading to around 8600 RPM (that is in it's power curve). Now can I do "3D" with it... no but it will do all the scale maneuvers the plane was ever designed to do.

What a joy to fly!! The maiden went off without a hitch. Two clicks down trim, two clicks left aileron trim, and a lot of throttle back. Thanks for all the advice, she's a keeper! Vid to come.

Yes they did have the Cessna 182 at HP ...five years ago. That is about the time the manufacturer went out of business... so if you can find one of these it is indeed a Treasure...

Congrats on your maiden, mine was out for the first time this year,3 flights no probs but on the 4th i had a lucky escape,i noticed that it wasn't responding very well on the ailerons so i landed only to find the right aileron was only hanging on with one of the hinges and was jammed in a slight down position which was the reason why it wanted to drop the left wing all the time, lucky.at least we know now that it will fly with just 1 aileron working.

I put another six flights on mine this weekend, and I really like the way she flies and looks, however, unfavorable winds on the last flight did in my front gear. I'm in the process of finding a suitable replacement that wont cost as much as the plane itself.. any ideas? Robart? Sierra precision?

I was able to find a replacement strut that looks to be much more robust that the stock set. Darrell from Sierra Precision was more than helpful and shipped it out today. I could be back in the air by the weekend

Yeah, I've had good luck with Robart, I've even gotten ten years out of a set of Spring airs. This'll be my first purchase of SP. I've read and heard lots of good things, and Darrell was very helpful and pleasant to talk to. I'll post pics when they're here..
